DS is free, but it's a handheld, what did you expect? Revolution has not been mentioned. I'd expect there to be a fee, because it's the only way you might ever think of making a profit.
Null, you have way too much faith in Sony. You act like they had any more to offer for online gaming this gen than Nintendo. MS was the only one who cared, Sony and Nintendo half-assed it and it showed. The only reason PS2 has more online titles is because they have more 3rd party support.
As for MS, this is a smart thing to do, but it will piss me off. Most of the Xbox Live names will be used up by Silver memberships. So you go to get a name, and a non-paying person already has it. I'd give them access to Live, but reserve gamertags to Gold members.
MS got smart, and that's why silver exists. This way, if they sell downloadable content, which is getting more abused by the day, it is available to everyone, not just subscribers. You can also go into the marketplace and buy virtual clothes! Ok, so the marketplace is the most retarded idea ever. Anyway... you can also play MMORPGs, games that require their own fee, such as PSO.
Then they give the real service to paying customers.
So... since my account is transferring over, does that mean I can renew, and not buy a 360, and I'll keep my account for 3 years from now when I buy one out of a bargain bin?
