Re: Quotes: Agree or Disagree
I would argue times have become less violent. A long time ago when we were simple Neanderthals, life was hard. We were more or less nomadic people, never sure of where our next meal was coming from. In fact, we lead a life of suffering, much like most animals do now. The majority of our time was devoted to finding food, building shelter and then raising our children.
Because of our intelligence we have advanced past that difficult lifestyle. Now, of course our intelligence has also created weapons of mass destruction and great evils, but personally I'd rather live like this as opposed to how most animals live. My point, is that as a race we have become less violent, especially Western societies. African cultures, on the other hand, have had a consistent history of inner violence that doesn't appear to be ending anytime soon. But again, in general, times are less violent.
