My noisy Wii
After a certain online update, my Wii started to make this terrible noise.
Is this normal? :( |
Re: My noisy Wii
I don't know, but you should check out Dragon Age.

Re: My noisy Wii
Strange...did nintendo just release a system update or something?
|
Re: My noisy Wii
Nono, it's been like this for a year or so. I've been putting up with it, but now it's really starting to annoy me. I started replaying Twilight Princess, but I quit again because of the noise.
|
Re: My noisy Wii
Or maybe you quit because its a bad game?
|
Re: My noisy Wii
Uh I think it's a defect in the fan. Mine used to do that from like day 3 of having it up until anytime we played.
Another reason to sell the damn thing before it breaks and you can't sell it anymore. |
Re: My noisy Wii
I'll call Nintendo and see what they can do. If it's not free, I'll try to fix it myself.
Thanks all. :) |
Re: My noisy Wii
I called Nintendo. The guy thinks my laser motor or something like that broke. Repairs would be more expensive than getting a replacement. I can get a new (?) Wii for €92. They will transfer my downloaded games, but I will lose some save files that can't be copied... Oh, I also get a new year of guarantee.
So what would you do? |
Re: My noisy Wii
Here's how you fix it:
Get a 360 OH SNAP!! YES I DID!! CONSOLE WARS, BITCHES!!!! ![]() |

I'd probably live with it. Try putting it in an enclosed space so maybe you won't notice it as much. |
Re: My noisy Wii
Hm I guess I could put it behind a closet door... but then I'll need some cable holes. I guess I'll try that. :)
|
Re: My noisy Wii
That seems to work. :) I am a bit worried about the ventilation though... It's sitting in a 2x2x2 feet closet, I guess that's more than ok?
|
Re: My noisy Wii
While lack of ventilation is never good, mine has been stuffed into a closed shelf about the same size for the last year and a half, but with all the Wii games and old Gamecube games all stuffed on top of it and around it. I mean it's literally stuffed in there with no room around it in any direction.
The shelf does however have a large opening out the back, and I don't play the Wii that often. And it did freeze a couple times when I played Tiger Woods 10. If yours isn't blocked in all directions, and you have openings out the back, you're probably fine. |
Re: My noisy Wii
My PS3 is sitting in a pretty tight space on top of DVR cable box that puts off some pretty good heat...I havent had one single bit of problem with it since I got it in May.
Well, inless you include that system update that Sony released that caused a bunch of games to freeze up...which they fixed with another update about a week later. |
Re: My noisy Wii
I'm sure it'll be fine. Both ventilation sides are clear, and I never play too long in one sitting.
