Are tabletop RPG's or Online better?

I personaly like tabletop. You get the face to face interaction and it is more fun..Joke around but still be serious

I enjoy video RPGs more than table-top.

Anti-social personality and all.

Video RPGs

Jason1 06-09-2003 05:47 PM

The online ones are ok for awhile, but you have you cheaters and stuff like that so...Im going to say Video...or whatever.

Dyne 06-09-2003 10:16 PM

Parents banned me from Dungeons and Dragons so I've had to resort to more video games. Yes, folks. I was banned. Only because my folks thought I could go crazy, or sacrifice chickens, or burn candles, or drugs, or something that might harm my body.

I WOULD say video RPGs, but not given that option, it's a tough choice between both. Tabletop is soo much more involving, you use much more of your imagination, and you give your brain a real workout. Plus, human interaction. When you look at MMORPGs, the benefits are really... anywhere, any time, as opposed to your friends who probably have a life, like you do, and that you'll meet strange and exotic people, rather than greasy Trevor or Smelly Rob you always play with. I don't know, I wouldn't be able to vote, but given the likeleness of me not playing tabletop until I've moved away from home, I'd go with the online people. It's 10 new people to meet every day, or more if you're active.

I like online, but hacks really ruin the experience as does lag. So I'll go with Video game rpg's with friends (FF:CC!!!!!)

That way it's more fun with ur friends.

I dont know what it is, but hardcore D&D people just freak me out. I mean, I know one at my school, and he really smells and always spouts out things like "God of doom" and "133t master". I think he has A.D.D. to, but I wont jump to that conclusion. Im not saying all of them are like him, but he has scared my image, as well as many tv programs depicting them as such.

Ookami Spirit 06-10-2003 12:38 AM

>_<
Not all of Us D&D people are like that....I mean, sure there are some..but really...Urgh......I myself say that tabletop are better, because you get the human interaction.

Its takes Pen and Paper RPGs an hour what a videogame can do in about 10 minutes.

TheGame 06-10-2003 12:16 PM

I don't understand the question of the topic... what is a 'tabletop' or 'video' RPG?

Professor S 06-10-2003 01:14 PM

Table Top are classic pen and paper or dice RPG. AD&D is an example but there are others, but almost every game uses the same rules and stuff.

I never got into playing, but I have a few friens who do, but are not addicts.

Every Friday when we come home from the bar around 2 AM, we go to the West Chester Diner to observe who we have named "The Brethren". They are a group of about 50 hard core table top gamers who are very loud and outspoken of their love of D&D and they take over the smoking section. Its fantastic just to sit back and listen to thier conversations as I down a Western Omlette with a side of Scrapple.:D

At tabletop RPG is a pen and paper RPG. Dungeons and Dragons is the most popular. They're the kind where you create characters with these sheets of paper and the whole game is more or less controlled by dice (at least the outcomes of things).

Video RPGs are video games.. RPGs. Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, Chrono Trigger, etc.

TheGame 06-10-2003 03:55 PM

lol, ah ok, then video by default because I have never played and don't want to ever play a table top one ;)

bobcat 06-10-2003 04:29 PM

Well I totally misunderstood the topic.

NYGiant 06-10-2003 04:34 PM

to me most rpgs suck. i just hate the battle system. you hit them they hit you. BS. I dont know how anyone could have fun playing those games.

Ookami Spirit 06-10-2003 06:32 PM

The point is not to(always) just hit them, let them hit you. There are other points as well....The point is to overecome all obstacles to complete your quest.

GameKinG 06-10-2003 11:18 PM

I also dislike turn base. There are few FF's I enjoy, but now with FF:CC being real-time, I think I may enjoy it.
