Super Mario Strikers
Well in this Mario Kart party going on down at the handheld forums, folks seem to be forgetting about the other Mario games that are due out this year.
Well won't blame anyone for not being excited about mario party 7. Mario and Luigi should be a good game. But I wait for none of them more than Super Mario Strikers (Mario Smash Football elsewhere). Mario Sports games have always been pretty fun arcadeish romps. And this looks to be no different. The official site for the game, atleast UK version has just opened and it has all the info you need on the game including some videos. So check it out... http://194.192.82.242/mariosmashfoot...er.cfm?lang=en |
Re: Super Mario Strikers
Yeah, I was just thinking about how cool this game will be. The videos I've seen, I've liked.
I don't particularily like the boxart, because it doesn't match up with the other Mario sports games. |
Re: Super Mario Strikers
I like the boxart a lot. Kinda reminds me of the Sonic Battle art. But doubt I'll ever lay hands on this game.

Re: Super Mario Strikers
I'd wanna try this out. Looks likes its loads of fun.

Re: Super Mario Strikers

I'm pretty sure EAD has a Mario Platformer, or at least some platformer in the works along with Zelda: TP right now. |
Re: Super Mario Strikers
you know you can play this game at walmart or circuit city, or any place that has a gamecube kiosk...
I think I'll be getting this game... looks hella fun for multiplayer. |
Re: Super Mario Strikers
This looks like it could be Ice Hockey for the gamecube, in which case I'd need new pants.
On the other hand, it looks like it could be Sega Soccer Slam 2. Not that that's a particularly bad thing, but I'm certainly not going to buy SSS twice. If anyone buys it, let us know some of the gameplay details. |
Re: Super Mario Strikers
I got it for my birthday - it is very, very good. I played it by myself for several matches to get used to it - then I played with my girlfriend against Typhoid for several matches. Then I had many matches more against my girlfriend - every single one was a bloodthirsty battle. The combination of items, random appearances of Bowser, the over-powerful swipe hit, trick shots, and one-chance shots are just blissfully perfect. The gameplay speed is right on par with what action goes on.
Basically if you play Gamecube and you play Multiplayer often, you can't miss this title. It's like the frenzy of Mario Power Tennis without cheap shots. |

I feel so bad I never posted my opinions on this game.. then again it was one of those games I was always busy playing. But it is one of the top GameCube games, and in my opinion the 2nd best Mario sports game right behind Mario Tennis. Lets just say its.. well great I mean like Dyne mentions its a combination of like everything from other Mario games. The items from the Kart series (which makes the most amount of sense here as I don't think they worked that well in Tennis). The randomness of pure Mario? Going for a goal only for Bowser to titl the field the other way? Going for a super strike to get interrupted by a freeze shell? And of course, the best part of the game to most people... the ability to check your foe into an eletric forcefield. I don't know if I have sick friends or if they just dislike the mario characters but its on of their favorite things. Also for the most part, the game is really pick up and play. With maybe one or two exceptions most people were able to pick up and start playing like pros in no time.. even those who werte drunk or high. Hahah had one kid offer me his xbox for the game. |
Re: Super Mario Strikers
I want it, it looks sweeeeeeet.
but first I must journey out and get a GC. |
Re: Super Mario Strikers
I like this game because I totally mutilated Dyne and his girlfriend at it.
I think the first game was 5-1. Then 7-2. Then 5-2. Then they beat me in overtime 3-2. Damn you. |
Re: Super Mario Strikers
Dyne and I played this a whole bunch today.
I had loads of fun. It had me laughing the entire time I was playing. |

You've convinced me to buy Mario Soccer, it sounds fun. And I haven't played a video game in a while.

Re: Super Mario Strikers
Went over to cousins' house for New Years Day.
And was pleasantly surprised to see that they had the game. Apparently, they bought the game by accident as the store clerk placed it in their stuff I think or something. But they bought it for the little kids and the adults seemed to enjoy it the most. I didn't do so bad. My lilttle bro was down 7-1 and I came back and lost 9-5, which wasn't so bad. Then I played that cousin twice more and won by like 5 points min. Forget the score exactly. Also beat some other people. But my 2 weeks off from the game has really thrown my super strikes for a loop, before I was able to hit it 9 out of 10 times, now I can't even line up one of the sides. Gonna have to practice before return to school cuz I know those folks smell blood. On another note, I like to give this game credit for being one of the first Mario games to take a whole lot of leeway with the characters. Sure Mario's costume is classic and his behavior defined. But they spiced it up a bit. Even giving everyone different clothes, which is pretty much a first. An even an attitude. The attitude is different but doesn't seem like something they wouldn't do. |
Re: Super Mario Strikers
This game is soo fun...we played 4 player cup mode..damn you lose track of time

Re: Super Mario Strikers
Random bump, but didn't see a need for a new thread.
I bought my Cube into work today, figured give the residents something to do and I really haven't touched the thing since I got a Wii and 360 and you know the rest. Anyhow, I was just flooded with memories of how awesome this game is, and well it missed a lot of stuff I think the sequel added way too much to it. It made me miss college so much thinking about all the nail biters and trash talking we did over this game. I mean I played my residents it was a slaughter 5-0 in like 2 mins, I stopped trying after a while. So just saying, after 2 years this game is still awesome. And if anyone wants I have it for Wii, we can Strike online. |
Re: Super Mario Strikers
Holy crap, we should have played Strikers when you were here. I totally forgot about trash-talking you on MSN about how good we were.
