Re: Oh no! London attacked :(
Grah. At least they got less people this time. Still heartbreaking. I heard about it on the news at 1 a.m. heading home from my road trip.
I think we need to analyze why these attacks are happening before we go back and act rashly. Not to say rash actions aren't needed. But it might offer some clarity. And anybody who gives me that "It's because they hate freedom" line can die. |
Re: Oh no! London attacked :(
apperantly london has cameras everywhere in downtown, including on busses...hopefully they will see whoever did this and be able to catch related people.

It isnt that they hate freedom. They hate the western civilizations view of Freedom. They hate the western assimilation of Eastern Cultures and the like. |
Re: Oh no! London attacked :(
Eventually, I expect them to release the video footage. With the amount of cameras London has, its almost guaranteed they caught this on video. They are just busy (obviously) analyzing frame by frame of the past like week to find out what may have occurred

Re: Oh no! London attacked :(
Muslim fundamentalism (terrorism) breeds from oppressive, theocratic, totalitarian governments. Many of these countries that practice this form of government live in poverty and the majority of the people are oppressed. The oppression of these people gives rise to terrorists who wish to take advantage of these oppressed people. A comparison could be used with Nazi Germany. The Nazis took advantage of an impoverished German working class and used the hard working Jewish people as a scapegoat for their agony, much in the way civilized Western countries are used as a scapegoat by Muslim fundamentalists. In any case, terrorists thrive on oppressive regimes. The introduction of democracy to the Middle East is a direct threat to the terrorist's power. Do you see anyone from democratic countries going half way around the world to blow themselves up? Why no, you don't. Democracies may breed domestic terrorism, but they most certainly do not breed international terrorism. While the terrorists may not hate freedom, they hate our democratic ideals that threaten their power base. It's somewhat hard to explain, but I hope that helped.

Re: Oh no! London attacked :(
That's definently better fleshed out that "terrorists hate freedom". Thank you.
But I'm also thinknig that the attacks could be influenced by some of the western powers' foreign policy in those countries. |
Re: Oh no! London attacked :(
