I thought we could have a little contest where people would design a new GameTavern entrance image, and then everyone would vote on the best one, which would be posted on the mainsite. Does anyone have any entrance images they would like to suggest?

A bar scene with some well known videogame characters, perhaps one from each of the three companies.

That would be cool... if someone would want to try to design that it would be even better.

I'll see what I can do, and expect some good stuff from Dyne, Random, and Crono Link also.

I'll try something tonight.

Ah, the current one is real.. uh.. dumb. I could give it a shot I suppose.

If indeed I'm not lazy tonight (which is a big IF) I may try something.

This is what I've come up with. It is very "beta" and therefor subject to change or even "deletion"

yes, its great but he does look out of place. It would be great if all the charachters were the same art style. But I dont expect anybody to draw them up.

I didn't put any videogame characters in.

You'd probably want to make it a smaller size than that GameMaster.. but otherwise it's good. Also, making it white-friendly to accent the white around it could be neat, which is what I did with mine.

Here's mine.

I've also got the original. I really just guessed on the coat of arms colour but it looks like I hit it pretty good. If you want it done a different way, different logo font, different saying font, different whatever, I'm flexible.

Check it out against white! (http://members.shaw.ca/commencer3/gt/entry.jpg)

Right, they would look better if they all had the same art style. It'd make for better ... aah... "synergy". But, the thing is... these characters are all made from different companies and therefor have obvious unique styles. However, I assumed that was the goal of an idea like GameMaster's. That is, to get the diversity of the three consoles (and good ol' Sega as a bartender) into the same setting.

As I said, the design is easily changeable and not complete. Things to be added are wine-racks, kegs, so forth... to make it look more like a tavern. If at all possible, however, the character images can be changed to those that would look alike.

Until similar pictures are found, I can either leave it as is, or give my hand at trying to "blend them" somehow, with what I've got.

I whipped this up in about 20 minutes. Am open to suggestions. I was gonna put more up to date games on there, but I decided just to use what I had on hand.

For sure I'll make it fade to white around the edges to help it fit in better. Also, you guys think it's too colorful?

I was also thinking about making the text in the background animated, making it fly by. And if I really wanted to, I could have the games in motion in hte background and have them fade out with other games. But htat would probably get a little big. Meh, I'll do it anyway. It'll give me something to do.

Does it matter what format it's in? I wanna make it a movie, but I would need to put it in .swf (macormedia flash 6) to make it small enough.

rndm - that looks a lot better with Master chief "cartoonized"

Well, I don't really know how to implement flash into websites, so I would prefer it be in a jpg or bmp. I suppose we could fine someone who knows how though.

I've altered the text slightly and used Dyne's trademark border to give it the neat, clean package look.

Well, I got a little busy on this. I wanted to make the movies in the background play as well, but i figured that the file size would be way too big, so I didn't do it. Maybe I'll do it later for kicks.

I also wish that movies weren't so big, lol. Cuz this looks pretty crappy compared to the original.....

Eh, enjoy....

EDIT: Hod Hamnit!! Probably tripod. Try this:

EDIT 2: ok....that one didn't work either. Must suck that bad....
