I'm considering buying this game, buuut, I just don't know. I have got mixed reactions from so many damn sites... Has anybody here played/beat it? Also, would you reccomend it or not to a hardcore matrix fan like myself? :p

I have it. It you are hardcore, like you say, you should get it. The parts that stand out are the combat system (which is cool), and the cutscenes (also cool). Its not an amazing game, but its way better than spider-man.

Cool, thanks...
Have you played Max Payne before? I was wondering how the bullettime gun fighting compares.

I've seen a friend play Max Payne, and I feel that the bullet time looks a bit similar. However, the Matrix's bullet time is controlled by L1... which, when held, gives your character the ability to preform some pretty nutty stunts.
I liked the game. Plus, it gives some story line that the movie didn't add in.

I rented the Matrix. I beat it in about 4 hours game clock time. That was with the girl. Ive heard the the game with the guy isnt much different, so we're looking at 8 hours of gameplay time, tops. There are 3 difficulty levels, I played on easy. Its basically just follow the arrow gameplay, with a car chase level or 2 thrown in for good measure. The story seemed meh...but im not a big matrix fan. I will admit the fighting and ''focous'' manuvers are neat, but this game is nothing more than a short rental for me. But im not a big matrix fan:p

Okay game... not as bad as people make it out to be. Rent it... not more... Still it's obvious shovelware.

It was a really good rent... Definitely not worth the purchase, IMO..

Good game, I enjoyed, if you are a Matrix fan you should at least rent it to witness more of the storyline.
Rent rent rent. I thought it was pretty cruddy overall but it had some cool parts, like the slo-mo like the others said.
I think it's definitely worth it to play it, because of
*spoiler*
When Niobe kisses Persephone. Like, omfg. Nice.

I went ahead and purchased it with store credit (GCN version)... I don't even know why I had doubts about this game now ;)
I haven't had much time with it, but melikes. If I wasn't so hopelessly in love with the Matrix movies I think it would be below average... but having a licence I love can change everything. (hell, I liked DBZ:B more than any fighter in 2002 because of the licence)
All it realy had to be to warrant a purchase from me was half decent.
Did anybody here get the Bonus DVD? I got it, and the little Animatrix short makes me now interested in buying the Animatrix DVD. Everything else on the DVD was, err, of no value to me.
Make sure to post your full impressions once you've had more time with the game:)

lol...beat it in 4hrs....really good IMO
but it feels like its not quite done, a lot of features that are almost standard in most games are just missing now. For example, most first person/third person shooters nowadays let u destroy computers and stuff when u shoot at it...but i spent like 3 mp5 clips trying to destroy a computer screen and it was just as damn bright and annoying as before :shakehead:
***SPOILERS***
the best levels IMO is in the Chateau, those levels kick ass, beating the s*** out of the vampire/werewolf dudes is fun. Oh and Trinity is soooo easy to beat (u face her if you play with ghost). THe ending levels are just unfinished buggy crap i mean honestly, even if it had a higher framerate, it looked horrible. oh, and not to mention the driving engine god that sucked ass! i dunno whether my controller is broken, but i had to be constantly tapping X to go at a decent speed, computer Niobe can't drive for **** and computer controlled Ghost can't shoot for ****. not to mention some parts are so unrealistic, i mean ugh...the driving for example...if you flip over u just magically appear upside again, and also if you control ghost you have an mp5 with unlimited bullets and unlimited bullets per clip. Other than all that and a few glaring A.I. problems i would highly recommend this game to any matrix fan

Im dissapointed by the multiplayer mode. All you do is punch, kick, and dodge. I want to do focus (fast matrix stuff) moves!
TheGame
07-01-2003, 02:48 PM
Yeah, that was a downer... but at the same time I don't see how focus would have worked for 2 players. Maybe if there is a button you could press down to do focus moves while keeping the game at full speed... I dunno.

You should definitely get it if you're hardcore. I mean why are you even asking if you say you're hardcore?
Getting the Animatrix is worth it just to see the final flight of the osiris.

Replies to this thread only would have made a difference between a rent and a buy... Everybody said rent, so I purchased it :p If people would have said don't touch it, I would have rented it :D
played it, returned it.
i coulda beat it in 10min. i mean i was walking into levels and there was no enemies. you just walk thro level compleated.
i agree with EGM on this one.... the game is a polished piece of turd.
i love the matrix, IMO a die hard matrix fan would be insulted with this game.
but then again maybe otheres had better luck with thier games not being so buggy.

lol, no enemies.... *cough* agent smith*cough*
*edit*...they couldv'e made this level much better IMO its just damn annoying sum times, i was actually looking foreward to it, oh well i killed him once , lol, because of a glitch in the game he couldn't move from where we was standing, so i took a grenade and :blowingup

:...: you obviously haven't played the game, the entire point was that you weren't the one.....and i think this was a fantastic decision on atari's and other designer's parts, becase ALL GAMES THAT SPECIFICALLY FOLLOW MOVIE PLOTS SUCK!!!!!! using niobe and ghost and the logos instead of the nebachanezzer crew was brilliant and it gave the plot line much more flexibility, and in the entire game, there was only 4 bosses....if you could call them that.....
***SPOILERS***
first of all there was fighting cujo in the arena, and then thats the only real "boss", fighting the agents with ghost and niobe are simply things that had to be done....and i think that the way that agents are invincible is well done as well, cept trinity did kill one with a gun  oh well, still the point is that it was still much more enjoyable fighting them than simply just SWAT teams. Also fighting trinity with ghost was very fun, and shouldn't be considered a boss because yo continue win or lose. and there wasn't a final boss!!! its not you beat this guy and you beat it....
***END SPOILERS***
and considering this game was not meant to be an rpg, how can your actions be determined by what you do earlier on?!?!, i honestly think it was a brilliant game, and hope that a continuation appears following the story line of matrix revolutions

i've only tried the ps2 version, but i heard its pretty much the same on all of the systems, and the controllers are all pretty good at handling the input
and if by head 2 head you mean the 2 player, then its a cheat (or hack), and its pretty fun
honestly id have to say the best version will probably be the PC version. as im sure they will put out many updates to fix bugs on the PC version.
maybe the xbox one.
im pretty sure the ps2 and GC ones are dead set and thier bugs stay.

i agree games that follow movie plots sux all iam asking for is a little overpowering strength and godlyness is that too much to ask for

i never noticed any bugs, well cept for this time i killed some guy and he floated a metre or so above the ground, but obviously you can't take out ALL the bugs like that, i think that it might be easier to control on computer, but still
And you do have overpowering abilitys, you don't see anyone else running up walls dodging bullets (cept for the agents, but that doesn't count), and carrying like 6 diff guns. you do have godly powers, because if you didn't this game would be a b*tch to beat (not that it isn't on hard mode)
