Hey, its one of my favorite features of the 360 so good to see that PS3 owners get in on the love.

Though it has two major hiccups IMO,
1)it is disc based currently and won't change until sometime next year. Where as Xbox is a download and you're good to go.
2)No party system, I enjoy it though don't use it too often.

Good to see the Netflix userbase increasing and PS3 owners getting the option to use it. :)

Why can't it be downloadable app based, though?

And yeah, party system isn't a big deal...I don't really want to wear a headset and watch a movie.

Im with you

Why does it matter, Canadians can't get Netflix?

Anyhow, I assume that Sony wants to launch this as soon as possible, as there is a software upgrade coming next year.

Here's the link for people who want to reserve the disc.

I'm assuming this whole deal is USA only as well, no?

I haven't got it yet, and not sure if I will. I like having it as a back-up since 360s have their problems, but the 360 one is just easier to use.

Also saw some pics of the interface.

Doesn't look as good.

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qvawAEHxLsQ&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qvawAEHxLsQ&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

Looks so lifeless compared to the 360's.
Also they divde up the shows differently and could be wrong, but see no instant play button.

I got mine last Friday and gave it a quick whirl. I have never used the 360 one, so I can't say if any of the functionality isn't present here that is there.

But as far as I can tell, it does what it's supposed to do. It plays movies instantly. And the load time was quick.

The movie I tried out wasn't HD and it was pretty poor quality. That had me disappointed, but from that YouTube clip above, it looks like the quality is just dependent on the movie.

Year old bump, but Sony and Netflix took their time!

Non-disc based streaming is coming to Ps3 next week in the States. Oddly was there since launch for the Canadians.

*Movies and TV shows from Netflix will be accessible from PS3’s XMB menu under a new Netflix icon under the Video category. To access Netflix, PS3 owners will need to sign-in with their PlayStation®Network account.

*Support for Dolby Digital Plus 5.1-channel surround sound will enable users to experience premium-quality audio.

*A new user interface, including the recently added search functionality, will deliver a much richer and faster browsing experience, making it easier to find the specific titles you’re looking for or to discover new content.

*Some movies and TV shows will be viewable in 1080i resolution, offering an enhanced visual experience as more consumers adopt HDTVs.

*The amount of time to start playback will be improved.

*An increasing number of movies and TV shows will be viewable with subtitles or alternate audio tracks.

I love it but man the selection sucks. It's brutal unless you have a hankering for Documentaries and old movies.

^^I've actually found netflix to be most valuable in giving me access to all the TV shows i've skipped out on for the past few years. Over the past couple months I've absorbed all of Better Off Ted, This American Life, and Parks and Recreation. Next up, Dexter?

I don't have any complaints about the selection, there's always more stuff on there that I want to watch than I physically can, and that's all you can really ask for.

Never watched X-Files back in the day, so I'm working my way through those right now. About halfway through the first season. 8.5 more to go!

Also starting to watch Battlestar Galactica (new series), which just became streamable.

Retracted - seems like Canada's selection sucks. I think the only good TV show on there is Mad Men right now.

I blame Quebec. Goddamn Quebec!

And going completely unannounced, the Wii version is now disc-less.

So all 3 of them work without the aid of a disc. Guess 360 won't be only option anymore.
