No, may 16th is like 18 days from now................ the only thing is, according to my little computer calender, may 16th is a thursday... and I believe movies only come out on fridays and, every now and then, wednsdays...

I think Episode 1 came out on a wednsday.... y'sure it's not May 15th? :p

StarWars Fun Fact #1: For the first time ever in StarWars history, Yoda will not be controlled by puppetry but rather will be completley computer generated and animated.

Oh, and Episode II is going to be amazing! I am so pumped up for it. I didn't get any toys yet, but that is okay. That means more money for my discman! Lol.

The scene where all of the Trade Federation (I think it is them...) tanks are big things (which look like pre-evolved AT AT Walkers) are attacking the 8 or 10 Jedi. That looks amazing!

And yeah, you can tell that Yoda is computer generated. When he is floating on that pillow when he is walking with Mace Windu and Obi Wan (I think), he looks pretty fake... Well, not fake, but not fuzzy like in the old ones.

Hmm... What else... I don't know... Apparently there is going to be some AMAZING lightsabre fight sequences, but I don't know if it will be able to top the Vader/Obi Wan fight from the original. :lol: All joking aside, I cannot see a new lightsabre fight being better than the Maul/Ben/Qui Gon fight in Episode I. That was so great. It was good acting by Ewan McGregor. I feel he showed alot of passion and he looked really sad/angry (even though Jedi should not use those emotions) when Qui Gon died.

Well, that is enough Star Wars for now. :D

If they get rid of Jar Jar Binks, the film will already be 50% better than Episode I (in my opinion). If they get rid of all the Gungans in general, the movie will be 100% better. And if George Lucas learns how to use his special effects to tell a story instead just showing off, the movie will be the must- see that Episode I should have been.

Jar Jar is only in one small scene in the beginning. I don't know about Gungans as a whole though :unsure:


I don't care if Gungans are completely gone or not, just as long as they are not in the movie as much.





George Lucas also said at some point that he was dissappointed in Episode I also... I think so anyway....



In any case I believe that Episode II will be awesome.

I believe that Jar Jar has a small role in the beginning of the film. He is a diplmat of the Gungans in the Republic. I am absolutely 100% positive that he will not have over 1.3 minutes of talking. So that is good.

Oh, and I also like how on the preview, it shows how the the Storm Troopers came about. Palpatine wanted to make an army of the republic, and he did. I also like how the masks are a pre-evolution of the storm troopers featured in Episodes 1, 2 and 3.

Jar Jar will be in Episode II, but for not very long I think. The current one is pretty good, but I'll post the better one soon.

I can't wait to see Episode 2 either, at my local cinema they've been taking pre-orders for tickets for ages now. I'm not going to pre-order my tickets, i'll go and see the film a few days after it's out.

I can't believe they were even considering to have NSYC have a cameo in the film. Because of the uproar on the internet they didn't, but to even consider it :eek:.

I don't see why everyone hated Episode 1, i liked it.

Man, I'm hella excited for Episode II, especially seeing Yoda fight. I heard somewhere that he is a better martial artist than Mace Windu, despite his size. He also has greater control of the force, so he should be very formidable and entertaining to watch. :)

(CNN) -- It's an often-told tale that has taken on the aura of myth. No, not "Star Wars" -- the life of its creator.

Young George Lucas, fresh off the success of 1973's "American Graffiti," goes to work on his next film, a light Saturday-matinee confection called "Star Wars." Hollywood studios kick it around until it's finally picked up, reluctantly, by 20th Century Fox. A preview for executives, with the unfinished special effects replaced by footage of World War II dogfights, is a disaster.

And then, with the movie's release on May 25, 1977, a phenomenon is born.

Fast-forward 25 years. Lucas is now a filmmaking (and myth-making) icon. His empire includes the Skywalker Ranch, a vast home for his production company, Lucasfilm; a founding role with Industrial Light and Magic, one of Hollywood's leading special effects companies; and, of course, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, C-3PO, R2-D2 and all the rest of the characters who populate the "Star Wars" universe.

And that universe is about to grow: The fifth "Star Wars" film, "Star Wars -- Episode II: Attack of the Clones," is set for release May 16.

Lucas never imagined such success, he told CNN's Anderson Cooper -- nor did he imagine such a sprawling film chronicle. But his own creativity -- or the Force -- soon took matters out of his hands.

"When I started to write it, it got to be too big, it got to be 250, 300 pages," Lucas said. "I said, well, I can't do this. The studio will never allow this. I will take the first half, make a movie out of that, and then I was determined to come back and finish the other three, or other two stories."

'I had kids I was going to raise'
"Star Wars," of course, became the biggest-grossing film in history, and Lucas got his wish to complete the trilogy -- and complete control of it to boot. But after "Return of the Jedi" -- the final chapter of the original trio -- appeared in 1983, Lucas took a break, focusing on his producing endeavors and his businesses.

Lucas said he had no idea that he'd pursue a second trilogy, despite rumors in the early 1980s that he'd mapped out a total of nine films, three trilogies' worth.

"All I knew is, I was going to finish these three, and that was it," he told Cooper.

"And that's pretty much what I did. ... I had kids I was going to raise. I just had a different life planned out for me. But then, you know, I had that story sitting there. But that's what I had done [to prep for 'Star Wars' -- I hadn't really planned on turning it into a movie."

When he did decide to move ahead with the second group of films, beginning with 1999's "Star Wars -- Episode I: The Phantom Menace," the process took Lucas back through the "Star Wars" mythology and made him focus more tightly on character over plot.

"When I wrote 'Episode IV' [which we know as the original 'Star Wars'], I did figure out where everybody came from, how they got there and where everything went," he said.

"But what happens is when I told the first story, it was a feature film, which is primarily plot-oriented. But when you do a back story, it's pretty much character-driven."

Developing Darth

The entire series is based around the classic journey of the hero -- in the case of "Star Wars," Luke Skywalker -- but the first three films are focused on Luke's father, Anakin, who becomes the evil Darth Vader.

Lucas said "Star Wars" fans will learn a little more about what attracted Anakin Skywalker to the dark side in "Episode II."

"In this film, you begin to see that he has a fear of losing things, a fear of losing his mother, and as a result, he wants to begin to control things, he wants to become powerful, and these are not Jedi traits," he said. "And part of these are because he was starting to be trained so late in life, that he'd already formed these attachments. And for a Jedi, attachment is forbidden."

The new film was entirely shot on high-definition digital video, a first. Lucas said the technology has been a great boon to him.

"For a fantasy film, this kind of technology is almost a must in order to get your story told," he said.

Lucas has maintained his independence with the "Star Wars" films, doing things his way, on his schedule. He controls the "Star Wars" merchandising -- "I didn't want someone using the name 'Star Wars' on a piece of junk," he once said -- and also the many "Star Wars" characters and story lines, which live on in books and video games even when they're not appearing on the big screen.

"I'm able to tell the story the way it's meant to be told, and I don't have to listen to what [studio] market research does," he said.

"They would be listening to the fans -- 'and these people think you should be doing this, and these people think you should have that character in there.'

"These [stories] are not put together by a marketing department. They're purely sort of a creative act that was created to tell a great story."

Oh, and just something about Star Wars. it is funny how all the Jedi thought that the "chosen one" would be a great thing for the Jedi. But in reality, it killed all of the except for 2 (Yoda and ben). hehe... i just think that is funny.

The Chosen One was a good thing. First he is the father to Luke Skywalker, of course, who becomes the first of the new Jedi. Vader also killed the Emperor and when he became Anakin again for that short amount of time at the end of RotJ he killed the Sith while the Jedi lived on. He did bring balance to the Force.... just after kind of tilting it a bit.... :unsure:


I think that Episode II will beat Spider-Man as well, though not by a whole lot. Just because you have people in line for three months doesn't mean there's going to be more people watching the movie, just more determined and patient.

Well, many argue that by killing the Emperer, he destroyed the balance of the force. You see, by having only two Sith and two Jedi in the whole universe, everything was balanced out. But, when Darth killed his master, and then he died, there are now only Jedi left, thus being unbalanced.

Huh uh, the Sith created an imbalance with the Force because of the destruction and pain they created. So when the Sith were destroyed there was balance in the Force.

I understand what you are saying, I just like to make conversations about stuff like this.

I guess the main question is : Did Vader bring balance to the force by killing many Jedi, or by killing the Emperer?

I think that a good answer can be made from both views.
