Default How Are You Today?

Stupid idea for a thread, but what I've always excelled at

A simple place for folks who may visit here to just give an update on anything.

How are yah now?
Good, and you?
Oh, not so bad.

Which reminds me, I bet our Canadian friends are already big fans of Letterkenny. If you haven't watched it, please do. It's somewhat frustrating to quote this show every day when none of my real life friends get the references.

Also, one of my cases got stayed today. Great timing, because I head to Italy next week for vacation and now do not have to worry about work emails.

Any travel tips, my wanderlustful penguin friend?

Smilies were so much more fun than emoji. I'm doing well enough.

Oh Italy sounds lovely.

I mean my tips aren't very uncommon.

Make a plan, but be very flexible. Get "lost" if you can best way to discover hidden gems.

Try to walk as much as you can, again to discover hidden gems or things that interest you.

If you can take public transport just to see how different it feels.

Eat everything they got... and avoid fast food. not that it's bad to have, but eh I can do McDonald's anywhere!

People will generally offer some assistance to you if need it. Tourist traps are tourist traps, but usually nice things to see

Museums are always a good place to go.

Take a lot of pics!

Wow BAB, that's some great advice, I totally agree. That's how I do my vacations.

I'd like to add:
- Learn a few words in the local language. Even if it's just "Hello, do you speak English?" People are a lot more helpful if you show some interest in their language.
- Talk to locals, try to do the 'normal' things.
- On the way there, learn a bit about the country.
- Sure, take pics, but don't forget to enjoy the moment with your own eyes.

How was your trip to Italy Acebot?

I might as well put an update in here. Today I'm not doing so good because about a week ago my dad had a scaffolding fall while we were standing trusses and he broke his back. He's been moved from the ICU to palliative care at Vancouver General Hospital.
He's in a bad way and I appreciate any prayers. It's not likely he will last that long they say. He's paralyzed pretty bad and the prospect of him regaining sensation and motor control is low. That said, his comfort is kind of priority right now, and if it's God's will he'll recover and have good arm and hand dexterity again.
It's been a difficult week. I just got back from Vancouver and will head back again in a couple days.
My list of things to do is enormous. Thankfully my buddy is going to help me finish the roof on the shop before the weather turns bad.
