math is different...much less subjective. I got a 94 in math last year...it's the other subjects where the teacher has to grade the student...

Re: How are your grades so far?
I loved how in the past couple of years, technically a high school student in Ontario could not fail. THis was because level 1 waws 50-59%.... There was not a Level for failing, lol. They changed that now, though.

Well, zero's and failed tests could still make you fail. It's just when you hand in assignments that you couldnt get below 50.

Dang, that sucks. It would be hard to come back up to speed if you didn't practice, huh?
As for me, I play Alto and Bari sax as well, Tenor sax, tried a Soprano sax a couple times, Flute, Clarinets, Tuba, Trombone, Bass Trombone, and percussion. I've done them all in the band for years, but I major in Alto Sax. I also have been playing Tuba for a while in Band, and before, I played a lot of Trombone, and Bass Trombone. I don't play much Flute, Clarinet, or Percussion, because there's a surplus of them (why I switched down to Tuba) but I am able to play all major scales, arpeggios, and sightreading pieces on all.
I don't do high brass. =S I've formed an embouchure that can do low brass and reeds, but high brass.. ow.. I can't even do two octaves on a trumpet. I will one day, though.. my Private teacher plays them all, and professionally.

Re: How are your grades so far?
Well, as for the band conversation... I don't know any instruments but sang and directed in chorus in high school. I have sort begun to teach myself how to play piano and dulcimer, but i am not very good and haven't practiced in over a year. I'm taking a jazz dance class next semester.

We have a thing called Enhancement (ENH), which is a 50 minute study hall thing, and it's based on a 6 day rotation where you sign up to go to a certain class room, and some days you go to clubs that you're in. And I have band on 2 of those days, so I get some practice. Right now I'm in Marching Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, and Sax Ensemble. The only one I think I will need to practice for is Jazz since I haven't had much experience with jazz.

I play the Alto Saxophone. It's alright, but I'm not a major freak over it.
I'm like the only person on the planet who can't read Jazz =S

Re: How are your grades so far?
So yeah, first year of college for me is no different than High school.
Honors Myth and Legend - 95%
Honors Worldviews in Philosophy - 100%
Calculus w/ Analytic Geometry - 103%
Fundementals of Computer Science - 97%
I feel a little dissappointed with my Myth and Legend class. It's just hard because there are only 4 assignments the whole semester. We did two so far. And you can't redo them at all, so there is little chance to change your grade in the class.

Honors Myth and Legend? Why do I think that class sounds wonderful (in "theory")? Maybe I'm just a Norse junkie.

Re: How are your grades so far?
World Issues (U): 68
Canadian Law (U): 78
Travel/Tourism (C): 84
English (U): 92
My attendance has been good, but as you can see, procrastination and bad effort levels leave me with 'less then stellar' marks. I'll probably work on bringing up my World Issues mark so I can finish the year with an 80% average.
Ontario's school system is truly a joke.

Re: How are your grades so far?
Our exams still haven't started. First one is English, which is easy.
Then we have Organic Chemistry (cycloalcanes and stuff). I just hope I can get the 50 I need. Damn, I hate chemistry. I've always sucked at it. The teacher just can't teach. I found myself sleeping a few days ago...
And after chemistry, I've got Biology/Genetics. That's not too hard.
