Perfect Dark Will not be on Xbox!!
It will in fact come no where near the system, but will rather probably be a christmas title sometime in 2006 for the "Nextbox" Good thing Nintendo dumped rare like a cheating girlfriend!
One of the biggest reasons why Rareware fans brought Xboxs has gone down the drain.
When it was first announced that Rareware had been sold to Microsoft fans were shocked in large. Many hardcore Rareware fans brought an Xbox to get all of Rareware's new games.
One game that really had people excited was the then unseen Perfect Dark Zero. Fans even went to such lengths as to buy an Xbox for the game.
A video featuring Joanna Dark in a more anime look was shown last year and fans have been eagerly waiting for news since, and today they have had some bad news.
It seems one of the most anticipated games for the Xbox wont in fact come out on the Xbox. It has a release year of 2006, and will appear on Microsoft's next console.

Re: Perfect Dark Will not be on Xbox!!
Crash, you are starting to sound like me, except backward
Honestly, I'm not worried... MS is smart, all they did was give me a reason to buy Xbox 2. For now I'm fine with Halo 2 (and 3?).
There were so many rumors floting around about it being a Xbox 2 game that I'm not even suprised.
Also, I don't agree with your line about Nintendo dumping Rare being a good thing... because if Nintendo still had Rare I'm sure that delay wouldn't have happend and we would have the game this fall. So acctually, I'm more upset with Nintendo than Microsoft
At least MS has a great FPS to make up for PD's absence, unlike Nintendo.
Also, I just wanted to point our that PD:0 being released in 2006 is crazy... we are talking about a game that already has had 3 years of development under it's belt, and now getting another 3 years on it... This has to be the longest development cycle in the history of video games.
I think it would be a VERY safe bet that PD:0 will be one of the best and deepest FPSs of all time.
That's all I gots to say

Re: Re: Perfect Dark Will not be on Xbox!!
Well, I hope at least that Rare comes up with a halfway decent storyline this time. Either this or they should just stop taking the story so seriously because it was laughably bad in the last game.
So bad that I wrote a fanfic about it which you can find in my signature.

Don't be so sure. Not too long ago, there was a game in development for three years or so. Maybe even longer. I don't quite remember. Anyway, it got delayed and it got delayed and it got delayed. But people held on anyway because it was being developed by a very well known company headed by one of the key people behind Doom and Quake.
That game was Daikatana which turned out so absolutely bad that it inspired jokes for months. I believe the company behind that game is now defunct.
Long development times are certainly better than really short ones, but beyond a certain point, games start to wither on the vine.
A more relevant example: Star Fox Adventures had a ridiculously long development time, and while the graphics turned out great, most people agree that the rest of the game just lacked something. It wasn't bad, but you would expect more from such a long effort.
By the way, I'd also like to see Crash's source. And while we're at it, who here still thinks Rareware is going to put out 5 games by the end of the year?

Re: Re: Re: Perfect Dark Will not be on Xbox!!
The way rare has been looking lately. PD 0 is far from anything im looking foward to seeing.
Rare seems to be missing something in thier games. Cant put my finger on it, they're missing a little 'umpf' to em. Past ones i've seen, kameo, conker, look 'eh' at best. Even EGM said they looked rather boring at E3.
I dunno. just IMO, i hope rare gets that certain quality that i feel they are missing back. but untill they do they just arent the highest on my list.

I don't remember anyone ever saying Rare was going to put out 5 games by the end of this year. Although maybe I'm wrong...
It's great how people love rushing to conclusions. Rare has not even released one game yet on the Xbox and everyone is already saying what a bad move this was by Microsoft. Has anyone ever heard of LONG TERM? It's actually a very hard concept for people to grasp in our society today.
By the way, I went around some credible Xbox websites and talked to a few people, no one has heard anything about this. I'm not saying it's untrue, but we'll see.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Perfect Dark Will not be on Xbox!!
Well i remember the 5 games for xbox too. dun remember where tho.
And many people are basing it on Rares downhill motion they were heading in with Nintendo. even then i remember thinking just by looking at thier games that something was missing from them. Starfox was pretty damn boring.
Also on the flipside bro. without even releasing one game on xbox many are already saying what a great move it was by MS. Ever hear of mistakes happen?
People will have thier opinions. some will be right some will be wrong. no big deal.

It wasnt 5 by the end of this year, its 5 in two years. And I think its a little past one year since the deal (I could be wrong). It looks like they wont make it, but its rare, so putting faith in that remark was your first mistake.
Also, there is nothing to say PD wont come out on XBox if all consoles come out winter 06' as rumored. It could be the title that holds people over till xbox 2.
And if Rare is currently making it for xbox and then chooses to put it on xbox 2, they are gunna want to update it ala SFA P.
Im just spouting stuff off. I wont judge the deal MS made till I see how GbB is.
Im interested to see how PD will look with that JD model they showed.

I don't really get why any one would get pissed about this did Microsoft or even Rare for that matter even say PD0 was coming out in the first place. People have been going on about a secret project by rare for years now mostly the Nintendo fan boy of later year. Oh and crash you seem to be trying a little too hard to put Rare down you a little pissed off your self?

Wait... this isn't the same... first of all, FPS is Rare's specialty... they have already made 2 extremely high rated games in the same genre. This is also not 3 years of development time, this is 6.... twice as long, and a developer working on thier specialty.
That's like Nintendo putting 6 years behind a Zelda game, or SCEA putting 6 years behind a Gran Turismo game... or Konami putting 6 years behind a MGS game... I'm sorry if my imagination isn't wild enough to imagine this game being bad.
I guess it could... but damn, it's extremely unlikely

You seem to have missed a rather important part of my post, so I'll spell it out again for you. And in fact, I'll look up the specific information for you.
Daikatana was in development for over four years. It was originally going to be done in a little over a year and then was delayed for three years.
The development team behind Daikatana was Ion Storm who also did Deus Ex. Their chairman was John Romero who was one of the partners at id Software before leaving. He is the co-creator of Wolfenstein 3D, the Doom games, Heretic, Hexen and Quake. He didn't just specialize in first person shooters. He basically created the genre. Are you seriously going to tell me that this is nothing like Nintendo putting several years of development time into a Zelda game or Rareware putting who knows how many years into a console first person shooter?
Moreover, what are you trying to tell me by saying that it's 6 years instead of 4? Are you going to argue that Daikatana was a rush job or something? Don't be absurd. Apparently, the game needed lots of time and got it. Or, more likely, the programming team couldn't get its act together.
Beyond a certain point, a game just stops benefiting from all the extra time. The rest of the industry moves on, forcing developers to update features in their game or rework the graphics engine.
I didn't go into this much detail last time, but this was all in my previous post. I said the game was in development for a long time. I said the lead programmer had created Doom and Quake (but I forgot he also did Wolfenstein 3D and Heretic). How you managed to interpret my example as a situation in which a company is not working on its specialty is completely beyond me (but not surprising). There are arguments you can make against mine, but yours wasn't one of them.

That's what I'm going to tell you
Nintendo can pour a lot of time into any new series they want, that doesn't mean it will be good, even if it is a platformer... It's like comparing 2 years they put into any ol game to putting 1 year into a mario game.
I think it's much different... Nintendo may be home to the greatest platformer, but that doesn't mean they have never made a bad one. Perfect Dark 0 is an advancement in a franchise, not a whole new idea created from scratch.
People who made the PD series also worked on Timesplitters... we see how big of a killer app that ended up being... not to say it was bad but... it wasn't Perfect Dark.

I don't understand how this news could possibly excite a Nintendo fanboy; this doesn't come as bad news to me at all... Imagine if Perfect Dark Zero is a launch title for the next Xbox console (that would be huge). Seems I already have a reason to buy the next Xbox console.
And at least Xbox has some good FPS titles as we speak (only on Xbox), and Halo 2, Unreal II, Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 are all coming to Xbox within the next year... Let's see GameCube or PS2 match that.

It excites me because that means more time to make it an even better game. (And I am mainly a Nintendo Fanboy). Since MS wants to keep Halo 2 hype in full force, they hold off with PD until a launch game to get people to purchase the next Xbox, then announce Halo 3 to get more people to buy it and you have many people who will buy it.
