It's what I heard, that's all. A Square rep mentioned it at TGS.

A Square rep also mentioned that if the current hardware was unable of supporting the original FFVII game, they would consider a remake. So basically, if PS3 doesn't support PSone game playback, then you may see an FFVII remake. Otherwise, not likely.
Also, take into consideration that if they screw this up, Sqaure would receive MASSIVE (and boy do I mean MASSIVE) hatred from the millions of FFVII fans expecting to see the perfect, amazing, FFVII story continuation. Which is also a main reason why they don't really want to make a video game sequel, cause if it sucks, game over, one of the most cherished games in history has been soiled. So lets hope they get this right, even if it is only a movie.

I didn't think the end-scene with Red XIII pointed to all humans were dead... Didn't it say like 500 years later or something before that scene (meaning Red XIII was the only FFVII character still living)? I thought the reason it was there was to show Midgar all abandoned and overgrown... Saying that it's been that long since Meteor ravaged the city, and after the whole ordeal there's no more Shinra, there's no more Midgar... No more city killing the planet and it's been 500 years (or however long it said) and they still havn't rebuilt... So yay the planet is happy...
Or whatever...

I think this is the beginning of something beautiful being destroyed.

I think if you let something completely new destroy something that's already great to you, you've got problems...

I'm just predicting that Square is pulling a Disney by making a crappy sequel so the fans will buy it.
I thought the story was great enough. Also, didn't Holy wipe out all of humanity?

Read the whole topic... some people have mentioned that...
When I played FFVII, I never saw any evidence saying that Holy wiped out humanity... People said "ooo it wiped out humanity, blah blah blah, and it's proven when in the future, Red XIII looks at Midgar and there are no humans", but no, what it proves is that Midgar was just abandoned and stopped sucking the life out of the planet after it was ravaged by Meteor and Shinra fell...
That's what I always thought that scene was meant to show... Then when I went to messageboards people talked about how it destroyed humanity and I was like "What!? o.O" and this sequel proves that wasn't the case...

...sonuva...
Alright, that's it, I'm playing the game rather than just settling with what I saw from my brother's play-through.
*looks around*
Maybe I'll start this weekend...

Hint: Save your Chocobo Materia. And raise a Gold Chocobo. Its a pain, but it makes the end battle sooo much easier.
