Perfect Dark Will not be on Xbox!!

I am leaning toward Strangler here... while the arguement can be made that it's all opinions, some "opinions" aren't educated enough.

It's like me saying my opinion is that Gamecube isn't even a video game console... notice how I give no back-up of myself playing it, and no reasons. Opinions have to be formed with reasons... and I just saw: "If a Rare game is good enough to warrant a purchase from me, I will do it. But buying one now is stupid to me."

In other words.. no good Rare game, no console purchase. Give more indepth reasons... he didn't even acknowlege the fact that Xbox has other games. Like Rare is the only thing that matters...

I see how Strangler can assume fanboyism here... why is Rare the only thing that matters? If you won't buy a console because it doesn't have a Rare FPS game, why buy a GCN and/or Ps2?

It just sounded closed minded.

Now, I'm not accusing Jonbo of being a fanboy, and I do see Null's point... but this is all based off of a post where Jonbo wasn't clear enough with his words.

Strangler is jumping to the assumption that Jonbo is being blinded by his fanboyism... and Null is jumping to the assumption that Jonbo has enough knowlege and enough playing experience with Xbox to jump to such a judgement.

It's funny because I was kinda like Jonbo not too long ago... while I would praise and defend Xbox on the boards, I didn't own the console and I wasn't looking hard enough to find a good game on the Box. Now that I have it, I wish I would have had it way sooner. I didn't buy Halo until the begining of this year... boy oh boy how I regreat that.

Now I'm at the point with my Xbox, where I wish I would have purchased one in the fall of 01 instead of a GCN.

People can preach 'XBox/Gamecube/PS2' doesn't have any good games and that it's just their opinion but it's all bullsh*t if they like videogames. Each and every aformentioned console has to have at least a couple games that would appeal to any GAMER.

In theory, Jonbo may have played every XBox game...in theory, he may not have liked any of them. But we all know that's garbage.

Well, I agree with Null on this subject. Just because, he doesn't see something wortyh purchasing on the Xbox now, or maybe he does see something worth purchasing just not worth buying a whole new console for, doesn't make him a fanboy. He has a right to his own taste.

I mean I own an xbox (even if it is at home now), and I didn't find anything too interesting on it, other then Jet Grind Radio Future. Doesn't mean I haven't tried other games, but those were the ones that interested me.

But sometimes, people are blinded by the light, or can't find the diamond in the rough. I'm probably one of the few people who have heard of/played/owned Mystic Heroes and the only reason I got that game was because it was in between Mario Sunshine and the next game. The game turned out to be fun, but since Jonbo doesn't own an Xbos he doesn't have an option of checking out some of the lower, less talked about games that could be fun, and sell him on the console.

so maybe a GAMER, only likes FPS, and that said he says theres nothing good on gamecube for him because theres no GREAT FPS's on there that INTEREST HIM. Doesnt mean he's less of a gamer. It means he has different interests / tastes.

But there is a good FPS on Gamecube ... and an exclusive one coming

But um... jonbo is a different situation... he likes gaming in general and is pretty much a hardcore gamer. I don't think if FPSs was the only thing he cared for in a system he would be owning a GCN. Also, if he wasn't a hardcore gamer he wouldn't be coming to some forum on the net debating, and getting that many posts.

The way I see it, when he looks at Xbox, Rare is the only thing he can see as a reason to buy it... and he most likely likes games of the same genre as good games on Xbox... that just gives a bad impression.

But I may be wrong.. he could have played every game on Xbox for all I know... *shrugs*

It's just the impression given by his post makes him sound like Xbox is pure crap.

Actually i was never pointing at jumbo specifally. i know i kept saying he, but honestly i never took a look up to see who everyone was talking about.

Doesnt change my stance tho. As i said up above, my argument may not be the case in this situation. (in one of my first couple posts in this thread actually.) But you dont need to have played a game to make an educated decision on whether it interests you or not. I never played superman 64, but i read up on it and decided it does not interest me in the slightest. lol.

Seriously tho. the only point i was trying to make, (and think i did) was that Someones opionion doesnt make them a fanboy. i just think the term 'fanboy' gets thrown around way too much.

I understand I didn't clarify my words enough in my previous post. I have played XBox quite a bit. Hero2 owns one and when many friends are over and we are bored, we usually play Halo or some other multi game. So to anyone who has said that I haven't played an Xbox very much, you are quite wrong. I actually do own an Xbox game that I bought from a bargrain bin at EB's awhile back. The game is JSRF/Sega GT 2002 combo disc that came with an Xbox. I bought it just to play GT 2002 because I love racing games (along with FPS's) and JSRF as a bonus for if I wanted to play it more. But the purchase didn't make me buy an Xbox because I can play it at a friends house if I get bored. So I am not a biased fool who doesn't see any other light then Nintendo's. I just really prefer Nintendo over other companies because I have been a Nintendo person most of my life.

To clarify that when I see Xbox I only see Rare, I DON'T. I just forgot to say that not as many other games on Xbox have grabbed me to buy it. It's just that Rare has been a company I have been watching ever since they moved to see what they will be able to produce. I do see other companies that make games for Xbox. It has its share of good games. It's just that I haven't had the urge of "Buy it now" yet.

So continue calling me a fanboy or whatever, but I have had much exposure to other consoles so I know where my decisions/ideas stand. Hell, right now I am borrowing a PS2 from a friend of mine because I really wanted to play Simpsons: Hit & Run but Hollywood Video was out of the 'Cube and Xbox copies. So I rented the PS2 version. If I was a full fanboy, I would've said f*ck this, I'm waiting until 'Cube copies come in.

So there you have it. Any other comments?

This just in the 2006 date which has been going around the net for PD0 is total crap!!!! Like when as Rare ever given out launch dates?

11:52 After the palpable disappointment of Perfect Dark's no show at the recent X03 event in Nice, we'd concede that there's every chance Rare's much fancied shooter is a ways off, but the Internet appears to be ablaze with stories that the title isn't officially due until 2006. And that just ain't so.
The story appears to have come about after one website ran a jokey comment in reference to the game's release, which appears to have been taken rather too seriously by some of the other games sites out there.

We called Microsoft to find out more, where a spokesperson told us that no date has been officially announced. So then we turned our attentions to Rare, and stunningly, the shrinking violet of the development world actually spoke to us...

"We're just not putting a date on Perfect Dark yet. Anything you read on a website is speculation, we're still in the process of getting the game ready," said Production Assistant Andy Wilson, earlier this morning.

When asked when we could expect to hear more news or see media from the game, Wilson told us: "Well, there's E3 next year, or there's the X0 conferences, they're the big ones." We also asked Wilson if he could at least confirm that we wouldn't have to wait for Perfect Dark until 2006, but the cagey Wilson refused to be drawn.

"I won't commit to a date. We know when we're aiming for, but we're not ready to reveal that date yet. We've got other games in the works that are going to be appearing first and we want to concentrate on those."

So that's it then - nothing official, but if the game is shown at next year's E3, we could expect to see the title as early as Christmas 2004, though a more realistic date is probably Easter 2005. Knowing Rare, of course, it'll probably turn up in 2007, exclusively on GameCube 2.

MS owns Rare. Rare can't just 'jump ship'. The employees would all have to quit their jobs and either form another company or apply to work for another gaming studio. I don't see that happening anytime soon. MS is probably supplying them with anything they want.
