Re: Marvel vs Capcom 3
I want this so bad.
But it violates my "enjoy what you have" New Years resolution, and is not on the list of games I intended to buy.
Le sigh.
*waits for holiday sale*

Re: Marvel vs Capcom 3
I needed to come back to the thread for this game. Hands down, my most anticipated game of... the decade? MvC2 was one of my favorites.
Gotta say, this game doesn't disappoint. It's insanely more balanced and well put together then even MvC2. Sure, the roster has some odd choices (MODOK? Really? She-Hulk??? C. Viper?) but it's all good for me because I expect all fighting rosters to have characters I don't want to play as.
I'm a little shocked it's not talked about more on this thread, especially with the comic book love here. Who's got the game? What are your main teams? Are we gonna have a tourny? Everyone has it on PS3?
I'll start it off. My main team is Captain America, Haggar, and Phoenix.

Re: Marvel vs Capcom 3
I ended up picking this up last week. I am enjoying it but I am pretty bad at it.
Never been too big into fighting games so I am learning.
Still haven't figured out a good team yet

Re: Marvel vs Capcom 3
I've been playing around with a few characters.
I really want to use Hulk, since he's my favorite comic character, despite the fact I think he's going to be low tier.
My current team is Hulk, Iron Man, and I'm trying to decide on a third. I really like Thor, but I'm not sure how well he'll synergize. Hulk is going to be my point man, unibeam assist on IM to help me get in close and Hulk smash.
Been spending a lot of time in training mode just trying to build some muscle memory...I haven't played a fighting game in a long, long time, and I am a total scrub at the moment.
I'm practicing with my Street Fighter SE stick, which badly needs to be modded with Sanwa parts.
I think the hardest part of this game so far is keeping track and trying to remember all the systems in this game. X-factor (which is free?!), advancing guard (which is free?!), x-factor cancels, DHC's, that crazy thing where you can hit a directional button and the special button during an air combo and bring in another team member to continue the combo, the three assists per character which you need to figure out when and how to use.
A lot to learn.

Re: Marvel vs Capcom 3
I was going to do Cap, Iron Man, Phoenix but I felt that having an all Marvel team is too biased so I threw Haggar in there replacing Iron Man.
Basic strategy? Cap and Haggar do some damage, get combos (especially those crazy air team combos) to build my meter up to 5. Then I bring in Phoenix and fight with her until she dies and goes Dark Phoenix. Then I take her out and fight with Cap and Haggar to build meter and use Phoenix as an assist. If they eventually both go down, I bring in the Dark, I X-Factor, and then destroy what's left of the other team. I have taken down all three guys with a Level 3 X-Factored Dark Phoenix.
Though if I get all three characters into a combo, I usually throw in the Phoenix Rage.
Currently using my stupid PS3 controller because I had an 360 Fightpad and am still waiting for the converter to come in the mail. It's so hard to get off the Phoenix Teleport and Stars and Stripes and finishing Haggar's combo with the D-Pad/Analog Stick.
Biggest mistake I see people make online? They start their matches off with X-Factor. It's the weakest at that point, it lasts the shortest, and it gives you very little benefit. I just wait out the 10 seconds of X-Factor and then move forward as planned.

Hulk will end up low tier just like last game, but he's better then he was before because he's MUCH faster. His problem is he has no mobility. He has no air dashes or anything. Stinks, but he hits HARD!
