Re: Final Fantasy VII on PS3
Poor Jerry Falwell is blowing his top. What exactly did you expect to get in this thread? Twenty replies saying, "OMG that's going to be so sweet!" and nothing more? I'm not even the first person to come in here to say that this is a bad idea.
I'm sorry that I ruined your perfect little Squaresoft lovefest, but the point of a discussion thread is to discuss something. And if you really want me to adhere to your precious "point" so much, I'll lay it out for you again as I originally said it: I wouldn't want Squaresoft doing this if I was a fan of Final Fantasy VII. It has nothing to do with the fact that I don't actually think FF VII is that great of a game. I would also tell you that I would not want Nintendo creating a graphical update of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and releasing it on the Revolution even though I am a huge Zelda fan and think that Ocarina of Time is perhaps the greatest game ever made. The reason is simple. It's bad business, and it cheapens the franchise. I wouldn't want that happening to something I love.
It's not that hard to understand, and it's not even that far from your topic. You're free to disagree with me and dispute what I say. I'm not trying to force my opinions on anyone. I'm just stating them, and the fact that you're acting so defensively does not say much about your confidence. If you were really confident in your faith in the greatness of an FF VII remake, you wouldn't even conceive of the idea that I'm trying to force my ideas on anyone. Certainly I have never once in here thought that you were trying to force your ideas on me.
In any case, backing up into your corner and whining about how I've moved into a new topic or created some new point doesn't do anything for you. It's a little ironic watching you tell me that my posts are pointless anyway. If you don't actually have a response to what I'm saying, the least you can do is tell me that you don't care and that you're buying the game anyway. It's not as if I would have a problem with that. I never told you to boycott the game, did I?

Re: Final Fantasy VII on PS3
Eh... FF7 remake won't be so bad, and won't be whoring out the series. People were talking about remakes for years now on Ps2 and handhelds. If they are going to put in the work to make it a full remake its going to be sucessful, period. Many of you forget how many years its been since FF7 released, there's a lot of newer gamers who buy into SE's games now. Its nothing like RE where they only waited one generation then put it on a platform that wasn't doing good and wasn't centerd on that genre of game to begin with...
If you don't want to see a remake Xantar, no arguements here... but personaly I don't mind seeing any remakes from both N64 and PsX since they were the first steps into the 3d, high quality video games we know today... a lot of games then were serverely limited by hardware and couldn't possibly create the image they may have been working toward. Games then in general seemed very un polished compared to games today.
I wouldn't mind seeing a Zelda OoT remake myself too... and I absolutly loved the MGS remake (though I wish it was on Ps2 and not GC).
-EDIT-
I'd also like to see a Perfect Dark remake... that's an example of the weak hardware at the time ruining a great game. All they'd have to do is solve the frame rate issues, making the graphics better would only be a bonus.

Re: Final Fantasy VII on PS3
It's been 2 generations since we've seen Final Fantasy VII, and it's almost a CLASSIC in the majority of fans' minds. Theres no way remaking FF7 would be re-hashing or whoring the series.

Re: Final Fantasy VII on PS3
Hopefully PD0 has the original Perfect Dark on it but with at the very least improved framerates. Playing counter-op or co-op was way way too harsh on the N64 or something because framerate was always low. I could care less if the graphics stayed the same, I just want to play it at a smooth 30/60 frames.

I'm kinda hoping they do let people run through the old game too with high frame rate (They could do it like how Nintendo re released OoT befor WW, just fix the frame rate >.> <.<)... I also wouldn't mind them using some of the classic maps again :P
