Re: PSP: I'm submitting
You get what you pay for. In Japan the solo unit is $180 which isn't much more than the DS. We, the NTSC get a value pack, which is highly priced as it is.... is still a justified price. I'm PRETTY SURE if the unit came solo it'd be a mirror of Japan's $180 price.
$250 is expensive indeed, but a justified price. If you don't want to get all the extras don't get the PSP. But I know a lot of people who have said they don't need it, but in the end... use them.
No one wants a $180 PSP... and spend extra for a big memory stick duo if they really don't plan on using it as an mp3 player. The 32mb is a fine associate to it, and 32mb is very pricey..... seperately. Aside from Spider Man 2... they give you what you need. It's more of a Startup Kit rather than a Value Pack. But looking at the value pack price and saying it's an overpriced unit... is overlooking many things.
The $180 price tag is a lot more attractive, but thats the solo price point. Thats the price you should be looking at.

Until they release it at that price, we can't look at that, because I can't go into a store and buy a $180 PSP.
Also, are the memory cards required for saves? If so, at least a 32MB card would have to be included into the price

And woudnt you know it they'd find a way while im gone on vacation, i was hoping to of had it before i left. but none the less. emulators on 1.5 are now working.
i have the NES one on my PSP right now. runs WONDERFULLY. been playin some punchout goodness here at work. heh. forgotten how much i loved that game.
SNES one is still not quite perfect. a bit choppy at times. but its getting better. im hoping they'll eventually have the Genesis / SNES / GBA ones running perfect soon tho for now tho, i'll play the hundreds of NES games i currently have on my psp. hehe. i love this thing.

I read about that a couple days ago, and doesn't it require you to have like two memory cards or something? Is there a way to just transfer them via USB?
Send me a PM with links to this new "information"

originally it required 2 mem sticks, but now theres a way to do it with 1. i havnt tried the one using just 1 mem stick yet, i wanted to get the basic part down first. wasnt really too hard. i'll try the 1mem stick method soon tho.
i just use a little USB stick, that has a empty slot in it. i slide the memory stick into that and plug it into usb, it works exactly like a USB flash drive would.
i think you can use the usb cable to connect the psp directly to the computer with the mem card inside that tho.

No, the 1.5 swaploit trick works on 1.5 PSPs, which is what all the North American PSPs are by default.
I downloaded the swaploit trick the second it came out and I am thoroughly satisfied with my PSP now. I'm finally finding time to play through Terranigma and Final Fantasy 6. It's totally, completely worth the price now.
The only problem I have is keeping my PSP in sleep mode. Apparently if you keep it in sleep mode while playing an emulator, you run the risk of corrupting your memory card. I back my data up every time I go out now.
And I guess the other problem is that SNES is choppy on some games for me. Like, Kirby Superstar is really.. unplayable due to the speed it runs at. Everything else is fine if you clock the right frameskip in, aside from music distortions. Null, they released a really, really good genesis emu yesterday and it works fantastically.
Have you tried changing your backgrounds Null? That's really cool.

unless you updated yours, you should have 1.5, not 1.51
and no dyne, i havnt tried the new backgrounds yet. Is there a way to save the current backgrounds the psp has? i dont want to be stuck without a way to get the original ones back on.
I'll have to try the gens emu next. im very happy they found a way tho for you to set the CPU on the PSP up to its full 333 mhz, sony stuck it at 222mhz cuz of the battery issue, but with emulators running off the mem stick, battery isnt much of an issue. so its nice to be able to run it at full power. altho im using that a bit sparingly incase they did something wrong and the psp doesnt like running at that.
i think they'll have the SNES games running perfect eventually. they need to optimize it a bit more which will help it gain power.

Re: PSP: I'm submitting
Couldn't answer you there. But why would something read on the memory card affect something on the BIOS? From what I've seen it's just a soft overlay on the background animation, not a full-on change. But I could be wrong.
I've run everything at 333 MHz so far, and nothing bad has happened. In fact, I'm still on the same battery charge from a few days ago. I've also listened to MP3s for two hours, and watched a 20-minute episode of Zelda. Also, a bit of RE: Apocalypse.

Re: PSP: I'm submitting
from what i read, it actually replaces the files for the background. i'll have to read up on that some more to see, maybe it doesnt effect the originals at all.
[EDIT]
omg, just tried the doom game, wow. im not exactly sure what that is, like a port of the PC version? its not an emulator of one of the consoles tho its its own game, runs extremly smooth, i'm quite amazed at that one, i hear that also have Quake. i shall now go in search of Quake.

Re: PSP: I'm submitting
Null do you use the Doom program the same way you run the emulators?
Edit: Nevermind I got it! Woot!

Does it run full-widescreen? Or is it just fitted?
