Great, I'm glad we managed to turn you, I will say, Shenmue 2 is even better, theres so much more added to the game and the areas are just 'huge' like, the area on disks 1 + 2 is probably the size of the whole shenmue 1 map combined, if not bigger. Then you go to Kowloon, bloody big place. Despite the japanese voices you get used to it after a while.

Anyway how far are you on Shenmue 1 now (Same question to BigJustinW)

I'm sure the Xbox version will have better visuals, and more interactions with environments, but the story will have to remain the same.

Nope with the X-Box version they will convert all the language.

There will not be any extra interactivity or better graphics, the X-Box isnt a wonder macinene.

There will be better graphics. Less slow-down, better textures, less loading times. The XBox is far superior to the DC in terms of technology. There had better be some updates to the graphics.

Don't why I care though. Don't have an XBox.....

No trust me, the graphics will not be better, yes less slow down, yes perhaps faster loading times, but the graphics will not be enhanced in any way, perhaps here and there where 'jaggies' are present they will be edited out, but the graphics will not be better.

Why? X-Box has 128 bit graphics like the rest of them, it's not god and I'm gonna play one again today to endorse this opinion in my mind. On top of that they are not going to go to the trouble of making such changes, to textures etc, they are going to convert the language, and get the game on the shelves, X-Box needs a decent game or 2 if it wants to get off the ground.

Following that demonstration, Suzuki discussed AM2's development of Shenmue 2 for the Xbox and announced the North American exclusivity for the title. Stating that the title would undergo improvements upon the Dreamcast version, Suzuki did not go into detail of what they would entail, although he did say the game would take advantage of the Xbox hardware.

Um... Shenume 2 isn't going to be an exact port... in fact, it will ungergo more changes that SA:2 Battle for GCN... If they wanted to directly port it and get it out on the shelves as fast as possible, it would already be out, period.

Also, why are you acting like Dreamcast's hardware even compares to Xbox's??? N64 wasn't a wonder machine either, but when it got a Psx port it looked a LOT better.

and Dreamcast is like a new Psx and Xbox is like a new N64 when you compare hardware... You should see NBA 2k2 on Xbox play side by side with the Dreamcast version... and in NBA 2k2 for Xbox , they didn't even try to change anything.

Xbox isn't "God" but it's hardware kicks the crap out of DC's... Sega would be stupid as hel to release that game with no updates because the franchise was supposed to display realistic environments. This game will be a laughing stock if it only has DC quality graphics and no gameplay updates...

*sigh*

Just because you hate Xbox it doesn't mean you should underestimate the hardware. If this game was being brought Exclusivly to Gamecube, you would be talking about how it will have updated visuals...

Ric, "bit counting" went out of style with the Turbo Graphiz 16. The number bits has very little to do with game visuals these days. You'll notice in spec comparisons bits aren't even mentioned. The XBox can push more polygons, more and better textures and more colors. This means it has better graphics capabilities. There is no argument about this.

I dont hate the X-Box, in fact I was considering getting one over a PS2, what I hate is the cliched opinion, oooh new console, better graphics. PS2 is supposedly better than Dreamcast but look at Shadow Of Memories, it looks sub-standard compared to Shenmue. I really dont think Shenmue's graphics can be imperoved that much, sure better textures (like mabey in the ground or something), sure less slowdown and perhaps not so much repeated scenery (like the big buildings in Kowloon) but the overall look wont really be much different. Mabey you could see further in the distance before it goes blurry?

I do hope more interactivity with the environment can be introduced, Ryo's house on Shenmue 1 was the absolute apitamy of iteractivity, you could fiddle with everything. Sadly there are no other places like this. I think theres about 1 light switch you can actually use in Shenmue 2, hopefully this will be remedied.

But hey, only time will tell and when the time comes I WILL compare Shenmue 2 for Dreamcast to Shenmue 2 for X-Box. But seriously, you have to have played it to realise theres not that much more they can do.
