It's funny how you guys talk about online gaming stuff... cause Nintendo more than proved this year that they could care less about online gaming. If they were to make some type of online network I doubt it will be able to compete with Ps2 Online or Xbox live unless it's released this year...

I agree. Nintendo even showed signs of disrespect towards online gaming since it was first released--except a modem slot. Nothing big, right? I'm sure Nintendo will always have it, and they'll announce several titles, but it can't be that big. But I have a feeling they'll only use it to keep up with the competition.
What IS big is the aquisition of Square. Wouldn't it be better than getting any GTA rights? Nintendo basically has lots of support, for crying out loud. Seiken Denetsu 3, Final Fantasy Tactics 2, Crystal Chronicle, and a good chance of many others. What's square serving up for PS2 then? FFX2, VII2... and possibly Kingdom Hearts 2?
And has anyone noticed the severe lack of any RPG types on the Gamecube? Ahem? Patented Nintendo MMORPG? Square's definitive support? Hmmmm.......!
The black wind begins to blow....
EDIT: Crap, sorry, I have run myself into a circle. Yes, online gaming WOULD be megatonish if they get the right support, like I just figured out with Square.. yes....
What a proposed "wanted" list of mine would have to be is...
- Plenty of lucious Square MMORPGs
- Mario Kart Online
- For the love of god, POKEMON ONLINE!!
- Online Fighting game with Namco
- PSO announced card battle game online
- F-zero online, triforce support
- Namco support with Triforce, other online genres to be filled
- Online Megaman Battle Network. Forchrisake. Doesn't the game revolve around it? Connectability with GBA please?
Well, that's mostly what I can think of off the bat.

At this point in time, I think getting GTA4 would be bigger than getting Square But in the long run I think Square would be bigger... but I doubt Nintendo will get either (exclusive, I mean)...
Aren't Seiken Denetsu 3 and FFT2 GBA games? So that basically leaves Crystal Chronicle with the chance of others for NGC....
PS2 has FFX2, FFXII, Unlimited SaGa, and probably others I can't think of... With the possibility of more (Kingdom Hearts 2, maaaaybe FFVII 2, Chrono something or other, etc)...
"Plenty of lucious Square MMORPGs"
Plenty? There has only been one so far, it requires a Hard Drive (which NGC doesn't have), it hasn't even been released in the US yet, and it costs a fortune to play... the game itself, the hard drive, the monthy fee... Doesn't sound like my kind of game
I doubt the announcement will be megatonish...

I think Dragon Quest would be pretty 'mega-ton' at least in Japan :P

Predictions of what the Megaton ANNOUNCEMENT might be:
New Zelda (2001 space world style baby)
THe Nintendo Online Accouncement. ( free?? Doubtful but neways)
Hopefully Mario KArt..(please , please)
but I think the mostly likely thing will be a Pokemon game online or not.
Either that or Nintendo brought some company out OR THEY actually developed brand new games.
BTW if the major announcement has anything to do with Pikmin 2 ...I'm going to catch a plane to Japan and strangle SHiggy.

I'll help you with it. No actually I liked Pikmin, it's just nothing big.
What if their thing is an announcement of ALL the things we mentioned here IN ONE?? - The next Zelda
- Big online plans
- Pokemon online
- Mario Kart online (+ others games like F-Zero)
- A Hard Drive
- Huge Square and Tecmo (they're from Dragon Quest right??) support
- Some cool fighters from Namco
- New 2nd party games (Too Human anyone? Raven Blade?)
- New 1st party games (PIKMIN 2!!!
  )
That would be big...

I dont think they will announce Mario Kart. Miyamoto has already pretty much confirmed one by saying he cant show us screens of it, because it would give away "the secret". So something already announced wouldnt be that big.
And Enix makes DQ.

Square WILL be bigger... it basically sold the PSX back in the day with Final Fantasy 7.
Yeah, Seiken Denetsu FF2 are GBA. Crystal Chronicle is dual, because it works like Fusion and Prime do... except you use the GBA as a controller. O_o Square's only flaw that Nintendo would overlook is FFXI, mainly because, yes, the hard drive, and that server problem. Other than that, all the RPGs are very easily ported to the Gamecube. But hey, I can dream, can't I?
They have plenty of ideas to make MMORPGs out of. Do you realize how well an online Super Mario RPG would do? Or maybe an online Chrono Break?
Or an online FF... no wait, they tried that already. Bleugh
What we've concluded so far and what has been reported (from Famitsu even) is this Megaton derives from the mass of many other projects combined into one to make one "Megaton!" announcement. And they've planned it well, because people will be overwhelmed and purchase more Gamecubes. You know the feeling. And, when they get bored, hit 'em with ZELDA! Then here comes a 1080 jab! Then here comes the final blow: Pokemon! That leaves the market in a prime state before Nintendo's Partnership wrath begins to expand starting from after Spring 2003, which is when some of the Capcom 5 surface and release in Japan.
Eh? Eh?

Square wouldn't be bigger, at least this generation... have you even checked the sales charts? GTA:VC's launch sales were scary, and it looks like it will be the best selling Ps2 game this generation (to this point in US).
Now, if we are talking about Japan, Maybe it would be big... but I don't see anybody wetting thier pants over FF:CC... well, not as much at GTA:VC at least.

Maybe it's a pattern? They need a new company to latch onto? Eh?
I would definitely see PS2 fanboys wetting their pants if Crystal Chronicle was renamed FFXII.

True, but do you really think that'll happen? Isn't Crystal Chronicle kind of an action/RPG? I'm not sure, I havn't payed much attention to it (although what I have heard sounds quite nice), but I thought I heard somewhere that it was... So I doubt a non-traditional FF game would be given a normal number in the series...
And the thing is, I don't think Square really is as big of a deal for PS2 as it was for PSX... With PSX, FFVII was like the first really major game announced on the system from a big nice well-known thing... I think... So it was like "D00D FF man!" and people bought it and developers supported it and it led to many more big games being released on the system...
But now Sony still has those big games... they still have Metal Gear and such, and now the fairly new major series Grand Theft Auto... Which is exclusive to PS2 through 2004... And who knows, by the time the deal is almost up they might work out another deal to make it exclusive even longer
I mean, people made a big fuss about Resident Evil when Nintendo got it exclusive... "HAHA TAKE THAT SONY FANS BLAH BLAH YAY GO NINTENDO!" But that obviously didn't do a whole lot for Nintendo... Or steal any of the spotlight from Sony...
But I dunno...
Again though, I doubt the announcement will really be "Megaton"... just my opinion

What I mean to say is extra downloadable quests, weapons, the like. The fun never stops. More and more games will have it, but it won't be mandatory.

It'd be a bit odd to have the downloadable quests and everything with the next Chrono installment. IMO, I rather have it OFFline.
