I dont think its a matter of nintendo finding a way to get them or not.

I Dont think nintendo WANTED them.

not saying they were bad or anything. But you got to remember Nintendo was and still is in Good terms with Rare, its not like they had a big fight and broke up.

Nintendo kept the characters THEY made, and the ones they've always had. No way to tell how this went down. last i heard Rare would have to buy many of the characters from nintendo. in which case i also beleive nitnendo would of sold them the ones they should have.

Nintendo sold Rare, rare did not leave nintendo. there would be no reason for the two companies to fight over the games.

I agree... but, I saw no reason for Nintendo to sell Rare. They are just getting rid of talent... then selling the best three series Rare made on N64. Plus, Rare thought up and made all those games by themselves.... meaning that they have the potiental to create future great origanal content.

But oh well, Hopfully Nintendo puts the money towards a good cause, like supporting online play maybe.

I didn't care for Banjo-Kazooie too much. I though it was just Mario 64 in a costume, figuratively speaking. Not to say Mario 64 was bad it's just I thought Banjo Kazooie lacked originality.

Most of the people that thought of PD and GE are gone from rare to Zoonami and Free Radical.

The company "Rare" has the advantage though...

"Rare" can make a true sequal to Perfect Dark, holding all options and modes from the old game and just adding to it. And it wouldn't be considerd a rip-off. If FRD would have made a game that had all the same modes as Perfect Dark and made a few new upgrades they would be condemed for ripping PD off.

That's why they made timesplitters so different.

IMO, if perfect Dark just had updated visuals and a faster frame rate on a newer console (and online play!!!) it could kill off most other FPSs on any console. That's what Perfect Dark 2 should be... just add some new features and a new one player game and it's all good.

M$ has quite a few first party developers that could council Rare on it's FPS if ther did lose too many developers. Hell, give bungie the rights to perfect dark and it's a killer app just like that.

I find PD's engine is out-dated. They better find something really good...

out-dated?

How is it out dated?

Example of an Out dated engine:
Madden 96... 3 buttons, Tackle/Dive, Turbo, and Pass.... New games have to have more buttons than that because it is required to make the game more realistic.

How does Perfect Dark fall into this category?

I had begun to wonder why no further information on the GBA Banjo title was ever released. I don't mind so much that Rare owns the licenses, as long as they bring a Banjo title to the Xbox.

1. You must play on the easiest level, because I can't remember one level to have less tan 4 objectives.

2. How could there be more to the single player game? Give an example of what a new FPS has in Single player than PD doesn't have and that it honestly needs.

Perfect Dark's multi player challenges kill off any FPS, including Timesplitters 1 and 2.

This sounds an awful lot like sour grapes from Nintendo fans to me. Now that Rare has left, no one cares. When Rare was a Nintendo second party, Nintendo fans always bragged about it. Lets get real.

Rare is one of the best if not the best development house out there. While they may take a long time in between games, their track record of excellence speaks for itself. While some of the games may have not sold well, you can't say they weren't quality titles.

Will losing rare hurt Nintendo? Probably, but not that much. I think this deal will have more of a beneficial effect on Microsoft than a detrimental effect on Nintendo. Microsoft needs console pushers, and Rare is one of the few developers that consistently makes them.

I agree with every word he said. Nice post Strangler.

The effect on Nintendo (a negative effect I would say...not financially, but they're losing a lot of would-be quality titles) won't be as large as the effect on Microsoft, which will obviously be a positive effect.

And GameKinG...you think Perfect Dark is outdated? Compared to what? And even if it was, PD was so ahead of its time when it was released for N64, especially the multplayer options. Nobody has ever seen anything remotely close to that on a console, even to this day. I mean, would you NOT buy a new Perfect Dark game if it came out for the Cube? C'mon...it sounds like you're just a tad bitter

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too... it's like you want to make this transfer from Nintendo to Microsoft sound as bad as possible. To me, for Conker, Banjo, and Perfect Dark, I can only see Rare getting better.
