Was Genesis online with that XBAND thing-a-majigger? I remember reading that in Nintendo Power.

Genesis had that online weird thing, but I think it flopped.

GameGear was going to go online too or whatever... I think.

Ya. Some cartridge thing where you connected your cable line to it, and paid a monthly fee. Don't remember the specifics, but I remember you could download games.

Not positive that you could play online. But connecting to a service via cable sounds a lot like cable internet, so I'm gonna say yes

So you're saying PSO comes out October 31st...I didn't even know that Sega had a US release date for it yet.

They've had a date for a while. It was pushed back to 10/31.

And all this time I thought it would be released early next year...(well I knew they said fall 2002, but I had my doubts)....

Genesis had Sega Channel were you downloaded games to the system, but I'm not sure if you count that as online or not. Sega Saturn online was too. Duke Nukem, Daytona, and Virtua ON supported it.

I read in OXM that Sega was packaging PSO with the LIVE package in Japan.

1) Phantasy Star Online
2) No.
3) Yes, if you use a USB modem.
