I'd say it was about average. I guess to an extent what made in "under-whelming" for some is that the big cities (Philly, NYC, etc) were mainly unscathed, but many small towns are still struggling with flooding. One example is Bennington, Vermont where I went to college. They got destroyed and that was even after the storm was downgraded and everything. Check out some of this coverage...

So, maybe the bigger populations were spared, but they've estimated $7 Billon worth of damage I believe.
