Sweet. I might grab it later.
That is if I can drag myself away from mass effect...

Re: Resident Evil 5
The gameplay is poorly designed at best. It looks amazing, but plays like shit. There are so many enemies that come at you from all angles, so it wants to be a quick twitch third person shooter. But unfortunately the devlopers went half way and kept the horribly slow combat system. If enemies are going to attack you from the back, it shouldn't takle you 3 minutes to turn around.
Also, the lack of ammo makes you defend against zombies with your knife. Thats fine, if you want to have an acceptable melee system instead of the experience feeling like your controlling a handicapped person, and not a jacked up super policeman.
The experience was entirely frustrating because it looks and feels good in so many ways, but the controls are a complete and utter mess.

Pretty much how I felt. Going to add that it was a retarded idea to make your melee range shorter than the zombies.

Re: Resident Evil 5
There's a quick turn button so that you can turn 180 in a heartbeat should allievate some of the attacks from behind.
And the whole limited ammo thing has been a staple of the series, what I tend to do is like shoot a person in a limb or something and hope you get a knockback attack. My beef with that of course is the fact that they don't always pop-up so you go in close and still get hurt.
and you can also use your environment to your advantage. In the Shanty Town one, the first room, you can blockade both doors with the bookshelves to slow the rate of the infected and try and pick them off as they come in.
Once the axe dude enters, it opens up the rest of area and tons of explosive barrells for you to use.
I don't know, myself and Magus enjoy the game a fair bit and will hopefully beat in co-op if he can keep himself from getting beheaded and smashed.

Re: Resident Evil 5
Wow, there are a lot of complaints about this game in regards to controls (not only from here.. read some crap on kotaku). I think the game plays fine and I think people's complaints of not being able to shoot while running is silly; if you could run+shoot, might as well name the game "Resident Evil: Gears of War". I like the new control system (along with the strafing), but if it doesn't work for some people, there's always the RE4 control settings. The game looks great and is staying with the RE4 formula (which works... why change it?). The addition of co-op is also awesome, altho I personally think it detracts from the "survival-horror" element (or what's left of it). Regardless, it's still a fun game. Plus, it looks like they're doing interesting things with the RE storyline, which has definitely caught my attention (Wesker? Sherry.. Spencer is finally revealed?)
Also, always aim for the head in this game. In RE4, aiming for the enemies' knees was also effective, but that doesn't seem to be the case in this game. There are more reaction commands, which is great. Use the knife when the enemy is on the floor. If you want to avoid wasting ammo, let zombies without weapons attack you and call for your partner to kick them down before they hurt you. It's cheap, haha.

Re: Resident Evil 5
I think the biggest part of the complaining was that you couldn't run and shoot because the morons at Inside Xbox got an interview with the Capcom developers saying that they would be including that in their gameplay. The demo comes around, they come up short and people get mad. Failure on Capcom's part.
It's the same gameplay and control style as RE4, guys. There really shouldn't be that big of a dissatisfaction towards it. Sure there are more zombies that are harder to kill and faster than you are sometimes...
...but isn't that how Resident Evil works?

And still previous Resident Evils were apparently more fun.

With strafing... Which totally threw me off.
I am apparently not coooblordinated enough to strafe, run, aim, strafe run aim all at once. My character just stood there twitching and running into things.
But yes, I know there is a pure RE4 control option (Type A)...
