Re: First details on Call of Duty 5: World at War
Screenshots have become very deceptive, for good and bad. I don't think Call of Duty 4 is a real looker in a still, but in motion, it obviously comes together. As this game uses the same engine, I expect the same here.
As far as the game is concerned, while I would love for a developer somewhere to explore a completely different war (Word War I, you fuckers), the reasons I have for enjoying CoD4's multiplayer do not stem from its "modern" aesthetic. I point a gun, I shoot. I get 10 points for it. The appeal (and annoyances) I have with CoD4 are all encompassed in the experience system. That's what I like it for.
I couldn't get beyond the first two or three acts in Single Player, because I found the game relied on throwing waves and waves of respawning enemies at me, overwhelming me with numbers rather than good AI. I don't dig that. So I doubt Single Player could be much worse for me. And if it is, its still negligible, because if I buy CoD: World at War, it will be to for the multiplayer.
