Cable, no more fuggin' dial-up connections , I couoldn't be happier, I can finally have streaming audio that dosen't sound like an AM Radio.
I won't even mention how fast my Cable speed is, because it's almost close to a VERY SLOW T1 connection, which is probably going to now make GT members try and steal my bandwith if they can, let's just say I prepared the PC for this.
I hate Verizon, mainly because they're offering DSL in every area around mine, but not in My Area, and AOHell had a deal with them that would have made my Bill dirt cheap, also my cable modem has a Dynamic IP, which means I have a Dial-Up style conection at Cable sppeed, on top of that I'm using Cable AOL with my Cable ISP, so I'm going at lighting speeds, and getting extra AOL Content, the reason for keeping AOL was because I would rather pay extra for AOL, than risk using the Bug-ridden Microsoft oftware the Cable Company provides for regular browsing.
I also Just got my $.1 Speaker to all work, so my sound system is amazing, and the desk is thumpijng now from my sub-woofer, so I'm happy as a Clam, now if alienware can ship the new damn mouse they owe me, Everything will be juuuuuuust peachy!

Well Bluefire, this poll is your favor. 4-17, and "faster than 56k" is in the lead. Hope this helps convince your parents it's time to make a transition.

Hey, I harrased my father for a yea before we got High-speed access, and he gave me my own connection, ask Kitana, she knows that I used to sit at the Dinner table and annoy my dad for Broadband access, as well as my Alienware PC. I had a rough Start, but things are smoothing out with them.
Oh, and for those of you who knowabout the problems I've had withmy Alienware Machine, if I had to buy another one, I'd do it without question as long as I could get an OS other than Windows XP. I will continue to use their PC's, mainly because they have repaired almost evrything that was wrong, the exception was te DVD-ROM drive, which Several people have looked at, and we can't find the problem, so I don't think that's their fault, as much as it is M$'s fault.

My share of 8 T3 lines at university
Crappy 56K at home
Oh well. What with the recent drop in ADSL connections (now about £30 pm for a 1/2 Mbit connection) I'm going to get that installed PRONTO as soon as I get a more permanent place. Probably going to be sharing it with serveral people over ethernet, but I'm going to be the only one with:
a) the insatiable thirst for DJ sets
b) the stability to keep going 24/7
c) root access to the server
I have been sick of 56K ever since I started using the net, but I wish I could afford a T1. They're about to start charging per megabyte in America for some ISP's, and it won't be long before that happens here too. Full leased lines (ie you don't share them with anyone) are damned expensive.

Pika ere's a little ecret, as far as using two Cable Modems in my house goes, I've got the Server, my dad who's footing the Bill has to do my Bidding, and listen to me to use the Hiogh-speed accsess He's PAYING FOR!
I'm trying to show him what M$ tries to do with all their products, although it dosen't seem to ber working since the house isn't on a "Shared Network", but rather two individual ones that show Mine as the "Primary Server", oh wel, it works. After all, I also have a better Computer than he does!
In other words, "Sucks to be my dad "
