Bring back a huge and dangerous animal? Can we say The Lost World: Jurassic Park? What a jerks to copy such a masterpiece!

Sweet Jesus I hope so...

Anyway, just saw it today and I have to say I loved the film. True, its far from perfect and Jackson's devotion to the original both hurt and helped the film, but in the end it is an emotional trainwreck and you can't help but love the big guy.

I would have removed the big-bug sequence at the bottom of the revine, though, and the relationship between the big black guy and the kid. Save those for the DVD and cut some of the running time.

Saw it last night. Loved it.

If you've seen the 1933 version, you'll recognize some old scenes Jackson pays tribute to. I liked the bug sequence, I think it makes you feel some sympathy for ship crew who are just there to try to save Ann Darrow. I think it just makes it much more personable. Most of the time, you don't care when some pathetic human is killed but in this scene I felt sorry for them. I love the way Jackson plays down the natural noise in the scene and overlays it with gentle, soft chanting. He did the same thing in scenes of the Lord of the Rings films.

And of course, the greatest part is at the end. The bond between Kong and Darrow has grown into love and even the toughest of men can't sit through the Empire State Building scene without getting misty eyed.

I though Jack Black did great. Considering it's probably one of his first serious roles, I thought the part of an eccentric film maker was a good place for him to begin his serious acting career.

And Naomi Watts was hot.

This is a really good Hollywood Blockbuster, but since that isn't really my type of thing, it's only just a "good movie." It's cheesy as hell and the action is amazing, but there isn't much beyond that. All said though, I wasn't bored at all throughout the 3 hours and was glad I went. The only annoying part was the ******* 12 year old girls who kept trying to talk to me during the movie...kids these days...

Oh yeah, the natives pole vaulting looked really really stupid as well..

Was just reading through the trivia section of the original Kong King at IMDb. Apparently the bug scene was cut from the original.

Quote:
One cut scene has never been found. It is the clip in which Kong shakes four sailors off a log bridge, causing them to fall into a ravine where they are eaten alive by giant spiders. When the movie (with spider sequence intact) was previewed in San Bernardino, California, in late January 1933, members of the audience screamed and either left the theatre or talked about the grisly sequence throughout the remainder of the film. Said the film's producer, Merian C. Cooper, "It stopped the picture cold, so the next day back at the studio, I took it out myself."
