Re: Revolution is 3D
I don't really think its a bad idea, I just think that Nintendo is banking way to much on gimmickry. But then again its Nintendo, so gimmicks are all they seem to be interested in as of late.

Re: Revolution is 3D
I don't think the "Revolution" is going to live up to its hype. Everyone has such crazy ideas for it, and Nintendo itself has even said that it's not something completely original, just original to gaming.
Everyone who expects videogames to shift directions completely with the announcement may need to look elsewhere

Re: Revolution is 3D
These are the problems caused by Nintendo keeping everyone in the dark. Things will be made up, stories will be speculated and fake phone call leaks will emerge. Information about the Revolution will either be revealed, and twisted... like the game of telephone... It goes from one person to the next and a twist is added.
I don't believe any of this is true. It's a twist of many different Nintendo fans speculating what could be. Everyone is right when they say, Nintendo won't give up their 4 player party trademark.
And to have something of this caliber using inFocus and Light Speed technologies..... priced at $200? And what of the supposed Revolution of NINTENDO"S CLASSIC ARCADE.
All of these require controllers that are compatible. A system as small as the Revolution would have next to no power projecting 3d images also...
I've seen inFocus projectors and I've taken apart 3d Light Projectors before. They are huge. Something like that inside the Revolution is highly unlikely... especially with the absence of a projection lense.... how would it project the 3d environment without one? Nope right now the Rev is stuck with Component Video I/O.
Revolution is 3D? False..

Agreed. Just because Nintendo is involved doesn't mean that it's for the next generation. It may just be planning for the future.

I never said anything about a projector... where did projector come in? Infocus is involved in making stereoscopic out of a single lense yes, they just mean it hit 120 frames per second instead of 60... you can do that with the displays that emagin makes LCD displays, like the ones in VR goggles..
NO projector in my theory here.

Re: Revolution is 3D
And so Nintendo would force anyone who wants to play MP, to buy a console for themselves... then to buy a special LCD from Emagine that displays this 3D stuff?
Not happening... Nintendo is smarter than that.

Re: Revolution is 3D
Nintendo is dumb in some aspects but they are smart in not making their fanbase spend so much money. Is why their consoles have always been so cheap.

Re: Revolution is 3D
They wont alienate Multiplayer. Thats where they have always shined.
Nintendo already saw how horrible of a mistake it was requiring 3-4 GBA's for FF Crystal Chronicles. They surely wont be making the same mistake twice with Revolution.
Now...if they gave a huge incentive for playing a game with multiple Revolutions wirelessly linked together or something, that would be awesome. As long as it doesnt say "Requires 2 or more Revolution consoles" (replace Rev with whatever Ninty renames it to )

Re: Revolution is 3D
Why couldnt you just have 4 "headsets" connect to the same console? Is that not possible? I probably dont fully understand this whole thing...

Re: Revolution is 3D
I really don't think it'll be headsets. With everyone having different eye types and glasses, etc.... and the expense... i dunno. I just don't see it.
