Re: IGN on the PS2
Wow... I didn't think I'd be at the forums long enough to sit through a second hype fest for next gen consoles
Anyway, I think Nintendo is doomed, I have no reason to buy their next gen console, and no reason to believe its gonna be any good. GCN was a big enough let down. MS vs Sony will be an interesting one to watch. I'm looking forward to Perfect Dark, Halo, and new GTA games... In this Gen, a picture can only get so clear, if Ps3 is more powerful its not likely that it will stand out that much. Maybe more things on the screen moving and blowing up at once, but animation and picture quality just can't be THAT much different (I'd have to see it to believe it)

I figured they were just talking about the Playstation brand...

Re: IGN on the PS2
I'm really tore between Revolution and PS3. I couldn't really care for which console is more powerful. Next gen you probably won't even be able to tell much difference. Kinda regretted not getting a PS2 this gen because I missed out on quirky games such as Katamari Damacy. Sony will definitely have the most backing and thus the most games...as of now...who knows how things may change. Just hope it's better constructed than PS2. But if 50 Cent: Bulletproof is where games are headed, I'm sticking with Nintendo. Also matters where PSO: Universe goes.
And yes, Samsung is kicking Sony's ass.

Re: IGN on the PS2
Considering Sony's massive debt is it conceivable they might exit the console business after PS3? I would think the software sales would generate profits for them but what do I know, I'm not even supposed to BE here today...
I don't think the GCN was a let down. In fact, I'm lovin my cube right now. Resident Evil, Mario Tennis, Donkey Konga, monkey ball, rogue squadron, pikmin, so many other great games. That being said I still think next generation will turn out much like this one. There will still exist a large gap between Sony and Microsoft - Nintendo. Xenon will sell well but it won't be a mega-hit due to the initial lack of Halo 3. Depending on Nintendo's ability to corral developers it's possible Revolution could sell better than Xenon seeing as how GCN and Xbox sales are so close as it is.

I agree, GC was a pretty big let down. i've prolly used it the least of any console i've ever owned. I love my zelda games, but honestly i wish i never got the GC.
and there will still be room for improvment next gen, im not saying that PS3 and XB2 will look that different, but depending on how much more powerful one is over the other, you can indeed start seeing a difference, perhaps not with one model compared to another. but when you facter in the whole game, start using what PC games are doing, all the crazy lighting effects, shadows, interactive obvjects, phishics, textures that appear more 3d and change depending on the angle your looking at them.
Improving on sharpness or clearity is one thing, theres only so far normal TV's can go, however improving on the games look theres still much that can be done, theres a lot to be said with how much detail a consoles power will allow them to put in a game.
All that said tho, i honestly dont think theres going to be that big of difference in the ps3 vs xb2 power.

Re: IGN on the PS2
I think Nintendo seeing Sony as their biggest competitor may drive Nintendo to do better things this next-gen. But all in all, I think Nintendo should be worried first about out selling Xbox 2, considering sales were close this generation between the two.
I think Nintendo should focus on Xbox2, Xbox2 should focus on PS3, and PS3 should worry about both of them. Nintendo used to be on top in the console industry (still are in Handheld) but they are at the bottom ladder now, as sales proved even Xbox beat the GCN this generation in sales.
We'll see how things turn out in E3.

Re: IGN on the PS2
i.e. They sucked.
Anyways, my feelings as always is that we won't know enough about each console until this E3, so once that is over with, that is when I am deciding on my console of choice.
If Nintendo fails to deliver anything, then bully to them.

Yeah, me and Omi play... well... a lot. :P I'm working on getting RNG up now, and its going more than twice as fast seeing that my gil stays in the millions, and there isn't realy any quests to slow down for.

Sadly, but honestly, this is how a lot of my friends feel about having a cube. They regret buying it... I don't know, but I think GCN was Nintendo's last stand as far as hype goes. Now they are going to have to put more BIG games out that push systems. I loved MGS:TS and Zelda... and a lot of other games on GCN, but nothing I coldn't have lived without.
No matter what I see on the Next Nintendo system, unless its dirt cheap I'll be waiting a year or two into the gen before deciding if I want one or not.

Re: IGN on the PS2
I would imagine, since a lot of the releases are occuring for Xbox and PS2 at this point. I went on GameSpot and the new releases for GC didn't match up to that of Xbox and PS2 releases.
As for Nintendo keeping everyone in a well lit room about the Revolution, but not turning on the lights completely, the Revolution better be as good as they are leading on, considering the secrecy they are in about it.

In real life he has to have bodyguards follow him around for safety. Guess he needed a game to further increase his image. And about being shot 9 times. That's nothing to be proud of...his defensive skills must suck. *phew* I feel better.
