They done it!!!!! Xbox number 2 in Japan
Damn get out the band!!!!!! start the music!!!!!
Quote:
Xbox has moved ahead of GameCube in weekly hardware sales in Japan for the first time, in what is seen as a significant moment in the history of Microsoft's system in Far East.
Despite success in both the US and Europe, Xbox has struggled to find its feet in Japan, being heavily outsold by all major consoles and even Bandai's Wonderswan at one point. But the latest figures might hint at a reversal of fortunes, with Xbox registering sales of 8,862 compared with 8,177 for GameCube in the latest weekly figures.
The spike in Xbox sales is thought to be largely owing to the release of Tecmo's Dead or Alive Xtreme Volleyball - the important issue is now whether Xbox can maintain this momentum.

Ok to tell the truth this is still not very good and any one who thinks 8000 units can really keep Microsoft or Nintendo going in Japan is a fool! Good to see Microsoft can sell in Japan if the software is right!

Hey, it's still progress, for Xbox at least. Xbox fans have a reason to celibrate now.
But I agree though, those aren't hot numbers period.

Well if it's because of that volley ball game, I wouldn't be to proud.

Hate to ruin your party, but that information is fake.
These are famitsu numbers, check it out
PlayStation 2 (56,878)
Game Boy Advance (30,029)
GameCube (8177)
Xbox (5184)
PS one (1663)
SwanCrystal (1123)
Wonder Swan Color (618)
Game Boy Color (575)
And these numbers are from IGN Japan
GameCube: 9,341
Xbox: 8,862
So there you have it, seems that other website you quoted took GC's famitsu numbers and Xboxes IGN Japan (which I belive is mediacreate) and did it that way.
Not that it matters, but you title is a bit misleading .

Has anyone noticed that Shadow_Link thinks any positive Xbox news is misleading? I have...
It is probably fake though. If you could find us the link where you got this information from Puppet that would be great.

Er... Not really
Anyway, what i meant to say was, is that the title is incorrect .
But anyway, this doesn't change the fact that both the GC and Xbox are getting trounced by the PS2...

Now the question I want to ask, I don't know if it's stated in the article, but what weeks are the sales for, I mean it doesn't state if it's this week, which is highly unlikely, last week or 6 weeks ago.

I don't think it should be a celebration for Xbox fans as much as it should be a depression for Gamecube fans

Nah, Russia and China don't deserve the 'privilege' at this point. I'm even thinking of removing Germany and Belgium, making it just France.
By the way, I thought you were opposed to the whole idea of war? Which would make me think you side with France, Germany, and Belgium.

Well you need an update. France changed their flag to just solid white. They felt it was more appropriate, since it's flown more than their current red white and blue design

Xbox number 2? Even if it did outsell the Gamecube's sell this week, it would have been number 3.... Don't forget about the GBA and the insane Pokemon sales.
Also, can you link the site you got that info from?
