Default Mario Universe!

Doesn't this look too good for the GBA?

Click now!

It was announced at Nintendojo, but the video looks legit. The game looks really awsome, from what little of it they show.

It's only around 900Kb, so just click on the link now!

I made a thread for this in the GBA forum, so please don't move it.

Just ask yourselves this question. Could this be a hint at the possibility of another Mario game in the works for the GC, but
cel-shaded?

Damn... That is on the GBA? That looks amazing!!! Although, it looks a bit too good to be true, if it is on the GBA. I can't wait until some more information is released.

And BTW, keep cell-shading on the GBA! Consoles are meant for graphics that everybody can love and enjoy. Yeah.

Enjoyable doesn't mean realistic...

Some people enjoy cel-shading... it looks unique and such...

And not everybody likes how graphics are becoming such a big important part... bad graphics can turn people away from games, no matter how great the gameplay is or how fun the game is...

I do think cel-shading is being used it too many games though... all of a sudden it's everywhere.. AHHHH!

The game looks alright, for GameCube or Game Boy Advance. But cell shading is getting way over done lately. Not every single game needs it, it only works on some games.

Enjoyable for everybody. Like you said, some people are turned away from cell shaded games on consoles, even though the game might be amazing. If everything was realistic, or non-cell shaded, then people won't really judge (unless the game looks like absolute ass).

I don't get it...

about 15 cel-shaded games are among the entire industry, with some already released and a few more coming...

But Cel-shading is showing up everwhere?

That's about 5 games... out of COUNTLESS traditional 3D rendered games that are already out

And about 10 games...out of HUNDREDS of traditional 3D games that are coming.

Am I missing something here?

Saying it's "everwhere" or in anyway implying that it's overused is a bit of a strecth. There's no denying that.

Cel-shading is a form of rendering just like 2D and 3D. You may not like it(now) but you shouldn't let that hinder your judgement of a game's quality or worth. They're will be games in the near(and far) future that will literally suck that negativity/hatred out of some of you, to a point where you'll have to give the technique it's respect. Just wait!

As we speak, the technique is premature, and we haven't seen anything speacial amount from it.. it's kinda just a fad right now--many develpers want to try it because it's more viable than before. Zelda will be the first serious step it really showing what is capable of being achieved. Nintendo is aiming for a "playable cartoon" type appeal, wait until developers start aiming for games of undeniable stlye and coolness that can never be fully realized with traditional 3D... then you'll learn to appreciate this form of rendering.

I think they're saying its everywhere because big franchises are going cel shaded... o at least i think. I also think that mario video looks WAY to good to be running on the gba, last time i checked cel shading is very processor intensive because the cpu doesnt know where to put the edges of the polygons or something like that.. i read that a long time ago.

Nintendo likes to lead the way and be innovative... I think that because of nintendo there will be a lot more developers trying to do cel shading in the future... and people will learn to like it i think...

You sure are...I wasn't stating that 15 is the exactly number, but you know, more or less.

[edit: here you go bobcat]

11. Taz Wanted

12. Johny Drama

XIII. he he!

14. Black & Bruise

15. House of Dead 3 (this one uses the effect subtly)

So yeah, 15 is a fairly accurate figure, I'd say.

PS: I think there a Super Man cel shaded game too(no, not SM: man of steel, another one).

There's XIII, Johny Dramma, a Taz game(on Xbox), Black & Bruised, and one or two more obscure games. So yeah, 15 is a fairly accurate figure, I'd say.
No that's not good enuff Dreal. We want exact numbers

But yeh I agree with Zelda being the bigger step over the others.

I think that once Nintendo set that trend that Cel shaded games takes gaming to another level (this is what I think will happen newayz, u know MO), it'll be much more accepted.

But if there was no C-elda, I'm sure there'd be a lot less Cel Shaded gaming attempts by companies.
