I was hoping for a shut out, it would have been epic to go into Ford stadium and shut out the Lions. Let's hope the Packers can box this up.
I'll just take the win.
Suh better be looking at a nice, long, multi-game suspension. Excellent job of trying to counter your negative image by throwing an opposing player's head to the ground twice and then proceeding to kick him in the chest on national TV during a family holiday. Idiot.
That is seriously your pass at a legitimate explanation? Pathetic.
I think it all starts with Schwartz.
I mean look at Jim Schwartz. He was the Titan's defensive coordinator when they developed their dirty reputation. And look at Cortland Finnegan, the Titans DB. Schwartz coached that guy. Did anyone see the altercation between Finnegan and Andre Johnson? Fucking disgusting, AND WITH THE HELMET RIPPING OFF.
here's the video:
Schwartz's prodigy...
I'm sure there are other incidents. There are. Schwart's reaction to the Harbaugh's pat on the back was way over the line. And the chippy game with the Bears was another example of Schwartz swearing at the refs, and advocating dirty play. After Stafford grabbed a player by the helemt, Schwartz's comments after the game were of indifference.
I don't know if Suh's behavior are truly his own actions, or if Schwartz is encouraging him to hurt players. But ripping helmets off is more than just "playing past the whistle." That's a crock of shit. You don't go for someone's head unless you want to maliciously hurt them. Ripping helmets off, torquing someone into the ground by their head - these are all things that can result in career-ending injuries. These are all actions that can result in serious injuries like paralysis or coma.
Suh is a sack of shit, and I hope he gets suspended for the rest of the regular season. The guy has ripped off a number of player's helmets in extracurricular play. That shit should come with a 40,000 fine, then a suspension, then expulsion from the league if it is blatant and intentional.
And look, I'm not against hitting and physicality. I think some of the new rules really suck. I think the passers get way too much protection, and there have been numerous tackles this year that have resulted in fines when they looked like good clean hits to me. Football is physical, and I love the monster hits along with everyone else. But there is a difference between a clean monster hit, and ripping someone's helmet off or driving their head to the ground with clear intentions to hurt them.
Suh's dismissive response is the same reaction you see from wife beaters, child abusers, and serial killers. It shows lack of understanding and empathy and borders on antisocial. Serious cognitive dissonance there. Again - I don't know how much of that comes down to Suh or if Suh is just doing what Schwartz has coached him to do.
But Suh is still a sack of shit.
Not only is his 'dirty player' reputation cemented, but I hope the guy gets fined and suspended til the end of the season.
I guess the irony in all this is that the Lions still suck. They are hugely overrated, and they play a number of good teams down this final stretch.
I still believe we could see them go 9-7, or even 8-8, which is a far cry from their Super Bowl dreams when they had that 5-0 stretch at the beginning of the season. The past few weeks have really STFU Lion's fans.
The Lions play a heated Saints team, a rising Vikings team, the Raiders, the Chargers, and the Packers again.
The Saints and Chargers won't be pushovers and can put up huge offensive points. The Vikings will bring the division rivalry. The Raiders may be a challenge as they are on the up and up. And I have to imagine after today's game, even if the Packers clinch a first-round-bye-home-field playoff berth, they will still play with passion reserved for giant cunts like Jim Schwartz.
Teams with the type of frenetic energy the Lions have who can't stay composed never do well. Jim Schwartz is being paid big bucks to COMPOSE his team. That doesn't just include calling plays and managing the clock: that includes managing your players. I didn't see Schwartz talk with Suh after he was ejected; he said a few passing words, and yelled at the refs.
The sad thing is that there is real talent on that team. Even Suh. If Schwartz redirected that energy towards positive, composed football, they could be a real good team.
Edit: Bond, how is the local news coverage on the Packers? In Chicago on our Bears-biased TV news, they are even ripping into the Lions and Suh. Talking about how today was the "one day out of the year to root for the Packers." How is your media addressing the whole situation?
The local media outlets have actually just been reporting what happened and then providing commentary from national writers and announcers. No local commentary yet, but that might come later. Honestly, the media here doesn't like reporting on any negative event associated with the Packers, so it might not receive as much attention. Focus is more-so on being 11-0.
However, there was this gem from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
Quote:
T.J. Lang didn't see the entire play. But he saw enough. Ndamukong Suh was on top of his teammate Evan Dietrich-Smith, slamming the guard's head on the ground and then stomping on him. See the clip here.
So, no, Lang isn't buying Suh's postgame remarks that he was "held down" by Dietrich-Smith.
"That's bull----," Lang said after the Packers' 27-15 win. "I saw when I was walking over there to see what's going on, he clearly had Evan by the facemask pinned to the ground. His explanation is crap.
This Sunday is the 99th Grey Cup, in Vancouver. The BC Lions are in said Grey Cup. BC place holds roughly 60,000 people. I forsee it being a 50,000+ home field advantage.
I advise you 'Muricans to watch this Grey Cup game, despite the fact your laughable brand of Football is also usually on on Sundays.

Unfortunately, it looks like the NFL Network is the only station carrying the Grey Cup in America, which means most of us (including me) won't be able to watch it.
Tebow once again rallied the Broncos past the Chargers in overtime, 16-13. He is now 5-1 as a starter. I'm not going to defend his long-term prospect at being a successful NFL quarterback, but you have to give this guy some respect for proving everyone wrong thus far.

Any win against Phillip Rivers is a success in my book. And the fact that Rivers was Tebowned makes it even better.

I can't believe how many rushing yards he is continuing to pick up in the NFL. I thought that would get him killed really quick.
