And BreakABone, are you counting a second playthrough with Luigi for the 240 total?
Well that's the thing I'm curious about, Luigi is available during your first play-through of the game so I'm not sure WHAT the 2nd play-through is.

So this game is perfect. Awesome! I'm going to have even more games to play soon and little time for them all.

I'm really looking forward to it, I'll probably get it on launch day.

So the game is out today, and I got it.
I was two stars in and got bored.
Perhaps it's because I'm still really into Monster Hunter 3. I'll play that first, Mario can wait!

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2
So finally got my hands on this game, and so far its more of the awesomeness from the first game.
I've scored 20 Stars and 9 Comet Coins, and the sheer variety on display is once again staggering.
So far faced something like 6 unique boxes, had platforming challenges that have taken me around the globe, upside down, inside out. I've chased a rabbit while iceskating over chasms.
I've chained jump combos together to outscore a monkey. I've climbed high heights and raced with Yoshi.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2
So now 45 stars in, and the game continues to throw new things at you and let doesn't feel overwhelming.
Let's see, I played through a giant world, where the level ended with some awesome 360 jumps to get the star.
Then I did some upside down and rightside up platforming, culminating in a boss battle that was pretty cool, but not the best the game has to offer.
Then there was an excellent Rube Goldberg esque level with a Gold Chain Chomp.
Game is still so awesome.
And of course, the true stars show their face now as Prankster Comets are opening up.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2
I am loving this game, but its bugging me that i'm collecting all the comet coins, but so far no comets have shown themselves....
Also I thought Luigi was playable from basically the begining...im like 15 stars in, and still no sight of Luigi?

Luigi is kind of weird in the game, you don't unlock him like in the original Galaxy, but he also doesn't show up until like maybe 20-25 stars in.
And even then he isn't selectable, what happens is you go into a level and he will be standing there at the beginning and you are able to pick him for that stage if you want.
So far I've never refused to L man.
As for Comet Coins, they operate a bit similar, they open up after a certain number of stars or when you hit world 3, not exactly sure and then you'll get a lot of them
Oddly, not all Comet Coins mean there are PrankSter comets for the stage.
Anyhow, almost 70 stars in and this game continues to throw new things at you.
You think you seen it all and then the world literally flips on you.
