i think that it is a pretty big loss, LAN is much easier than internet play, not to mention faster. Its also quite a bit more fun if you know who your playing with, and seeing the look on their face when you beat them by a millimetre. The only downside to LAN is that all the members must have both the game and the system, which sucks in my opinion, it would be great if there was some way to create a way to play so that each of the four screens were on different tvs.
This isn't to say that single player / offline can't be fun, i know plenty of games that are fun both on and offline (halflife for example), but once you beat a game in single player, its much more fun to play friends than just go through the storyline over again.
GameKinG, would you purchase a game like mortal Kombat if it didn't have 2 player??? or would you be more inclined to buy HALO for xbox if it had multiplayer? thats just IMO, but i think that the loss of LAN really disappointed sum ppl
