Angrist, it can't be helped. Little details like this are necessary in order to show Anakin's transition to the dark side. As far as Jedi values, him getting married was just as bad. His gold hand is pretty cool, allows for better dexterity and handling of the light saber.
I thought it was really corny how Amidala continued to refer to him as "Annie". It just sounded dumb...
I mean, come on, the guy is 19 years old, its time to stop calling him "Annie".
