Never played it myself but it looks as though the whole appeal of flying about was only so nice given the state of video games when it was released; a new level of freedom?

The game is designed by Takashi Iizuka, the man responsible for killing Sonic. He came up with the role-playing aspect of the Adventure games and was the lead designer on Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, and most recently Shadow the Hedgehog. Some track record.
