Considering the financial crisis Sony is going through, there is little chance that CELL will have 8 APUs; IBM engineers capped APU count at 6 max but Kutaragi Ken forced 8 APUs on them and the end result is a crap chip yield. The current version cost just too much to produce and CELL must be scaled back to 4 APUs to be fabbed at a reasonable cost.
Furthermore, Sony has no money to lose on BR-ROM drive either, meaning PSX3 will have to launch with a $30 DVD drive instead, reserving the BR-ROM edition to $1,000 special edition instead.
So the end result is a PSX3 with half the APUs that are no faster than XCPU2 and a DVD drive.

tough to deal with now that Xbox revealed such huge specs... cell chip isn't looking to hot right now... maybe they can get things figured out by next year this time, I sure hope so.....
