XBox Live vs PS2 Online

Lately I've been getting interested in trying out the squad-based combat online....Something along the lines of socom or Rainbow Six 3. I don't really know anything about Xbox live or PS2 online as far as which one is better. I know they each have a subscription fee but I don't know if they're the same or what.
