I got bored of the GTA games too, but only after hours and hours and hours of playing them. When I first got them, they were easily the best games ever.

Even now, after being bored of them and stuff, they're amongst the best games ever made for the PS2. Maybe they get boring after a while, but so does any game that you play for too long.
