Default Jay Williams

I don't know how much news this is making nationally but because Cubs VS Sox was last weekend (and again this weekend) it's pretty much been ignored despite the fact that it's a much bigger story.

Last thursday night Jay Williams (former College player of the year for duke, #2 pick in the draft last year after Yao Ming) Jay Williams was riding his motorcycle (something that is forbidden under the terms of the CBA) on the northwest side of chicago when he crashed. He has severe injuries to his left leg and pelvis. There is no official word from the Bulls or Jay's doctors but everything that I've heard on sports radio and in the papers says that Jay's career is pretty much done.

Generally, my stance with people is dumbass until proven otherwise (that goes for just about everyone.) With that stance I generally blame people for the things that they inflict upon themselves but no matter how hard I try I can't help but feel very saddened by this whole incident. I hope he'll someday be able to lead a farily normal life as far as walking and, hell, even standing is concerned.

Well I don't know the guy, but that must really suck. Almost the same thing happened to Bret Hart a while ago, but he wasn't even wearing a helmet, which led to him getting a stroke. He's recovered a lot from then but it still far from 100%.

I hate when athlete's careers are cut short (or in Jay's case, almost cut completely). *Memories of Cam Neely, Bobby Orr, lots of wrestlers, etc.*

Ah yes, we here in Illinois are one of very few states without a helmet law. You dont have to wear a helmet on a motorcycle if you dont want to. Its your own stupid mistake here.

It was on ESPN today on PTI.

They said it might take up to two years for him to fully recover.

Yeah I heard the news, pretty sad... he was by far the best college player the year he got drafted, now a year later his career is done.

Too bad for him.... I just hope he can fully recover and get back to where he was in the NBA.
