I was disappointed with the Scarecrow cameo.

I'm waiting till next weekend to see it, I have tickets for the IMAX and I don't want to spoil it by seeing it on a tiny screen in a crowded theater.

I'll probably avoid drinking any liquids 5 hours prior to the film so I don't have to pee too, it's a long movie.

I spoiled it for myself on a dark blurry 19 inch screen. Felt more like a radio drama.

This movie has been hyped to the point where I think waiting a week will be better anyway....all I've read on Digg for the past week is how amazing this film is going to be.

I don't doubt that it will be an amazing film, even a 4-star film, but I'd like to view it on my own terms, not with all the hype stuck in my head. But, it was filmed in Chicago and Heath Ledger apparently delivers, so we shall see.

Just got done seeing it for the second time. Some new comments:

1. I like how one of the "knives" the Joker had was a potato pealer, and the police officer didn't exactly what to do with it.

2. It probably wasn't him, but one of the people on one of the boats at the end looked just like Cillian Murphy.

3. I bet that the detonators that the people on the boats had at the end actually were to their own bombs. Like Batman said, nothing is ever as it seems with the Joker.

To me it felt like Christopher Nolan had planned out his entire Jokeriffic Batman sequel before realizing that Scarecrow's story was a bit anti-climactic...
So he tacked on a short scene to shrug him off for good.

Would've like to have seen a vision of the Joker from the perspective of someone under the influence of the Scarecrow's toxin.

I was under the impression that the scene would be in the movie. I was disappointed they didn't have any interactions.

Though fun fact, according to the comics the Joker is uneffected by the fear toxin because what can you be afraid of if you are insane?

Feathers. Especially the tailfeathers of a whooper swan. And if above 70 degrees in temperature...watch out.

Jesus christ - this film, in IMAX, is an amazing fucking experience. Holy crap.

I don't understand quite how they decided which scenes would be regular size and IMAX, but however they did it, I applaud them. The high definition scenes were to die for, as was the whole movie. Definitely one of my favourites.

As for Heath Ledger's character, it was impeccably done, and worth the wait. He was such a nuanced character, that he even nailed the way such an insane person would sit down.

Also, the lines that referenced how as long as Batman would be there, the Joker would be there - they can't take those back now. Since we only saw Heath's face briefly, do you think they'll get another actor for the Joker with the makeup emulated? Or maybe greenscreen someone's face as they act and put Heath's appearance on it through the magic of computers? (A la Harvey Dent's later appearance? Well, half of it?)

Also, I know I'm a terrible person, but all throughout the movie I kept thinking that I should pick up The Animated Series on Amazon since they're all $17.99 PLUS promotion price. I ended up buying them all just now. It was like.. retrograde advertising. But honestly, it was my first introduction to Batman and my favourite, until this movie series.

One of my favorite scenes:

They turn the music down and you just see this beautiful moment where he hangs his head out the window like this with the wind blowing against his hair and face and he's just completely immersed in the chaos. And he's in such a peaceful place at this moment. It gave me goosebumps. It was so amazing.

Well almost all the action scenes were filmed in hi def. As well as any aerial shot. So the beginning, the hong kong jump and the hospital scene were filmed for the splendor. The bank robbery, car chase, climax in the high rise and hong kong were filmed for the action.

How do you know how insane folks sit?

I think he was talking in the larger sense of the word and not necessarily in the sequel.
Much like the comics or any media, Batman and Joker are the picture perfect definition of arch nemesis. They both want to rid the world of the other, but without the other their world has no meaning.
Interesting comic I read a few weeks back called Going Sane, in which the Joker goes sane and even gets engaged because he believed he killed Batman.

Well hopefully you also picked up the animated movies.
And should have owned them already anyhow....

I want your sig.
Maybe you can make me an inverse one with Joker in the foreground and Batman as the shadow.

Even though The Dark Knight is a god among movies, I'd like to encourage people to not forget about Hellboy II. It was actually very good, and it's probably suffering by being released a week before The Dark Knight. If you haven't saw it, you should consider it. It's not as good as the Dark Knight (but what is really), but it's very fun with a good plot, and it creates an interesting mythos.
