Hard to disagree with any of that, good points.

I might consider picking up a 360 if Xbox Live becomes free. One of the many things I hated about the Xbox [and consequently it's multiplayer blockbuster, halo 2] was the fact that you have to pay for Live. As an online PC gamer of 10+ years, that's just a slap in the face.

Believe me, if you play online for just about a month, you'll see that it has to be like that. I can't understand how there are that many kids playing Halo 3, with their annoying voices and stupid talking.. If it was free, this would probably be much worse.

And there's also the quality of the service - although there have been some bad times during the holiday season. But when it was good, it was great.

I don't think this is that great of a list.

Making Xbox Live free is certainly something Microsoft isn't going to do. It's been shown a sizable percentage of the market is willing and able to pay for Xbox Live and believe the superior service is worth a few cents a day.

Also, releasing multiple SKUs is beneficial for the producer (Microsoft). It's basically a legal way to price discriminate and can be very profitable.

And as far as Nintendo goes... why would they go back to trying to please the "core gamer" when they are making the most money they've made in generations by appealing to the casual gamer?
