Ah, the joy of stupidity + the Internet.
If I had a lot of money to spend, I might do that too. Let that be a lesson to the dangers of overclocking, and that gives me a good idea of what to do at school.

Theres no way that hole would have made the same shape as the hole in the motherboard. If a chip was overclocked it would melt or fry.. it wouldn't explode.

its not too common, outside of the group thats willing ot do it. There are various forums dedicated to it and it seems ot be alot of people doing it but overall, its not as common but still a niche area thats big enough.
There isnt any common apps that will do it. The general "stupid computer user" isnt going to accidentally OC. Most people do it via bios (the safest way) and well...80% of computer users probably dont even know what a Bios is or dont care to know
