				Sound question...

		Quick question.

I've got both speakers and a headset. While playing games, I also like to listen to music as much as the next person. Is there a way to make Winamp play out of the speakers, while the game gives me sound out of my headphones?

Thanks for the help...

Phew, I wish I had an answer but not sure. I know soundblaster cards have 7.1 which you can plug a mic into and have 5.1 (and maybe headphones, dunno doesnt say) but might require 3rd party software but not sure which kind though

yes, IF you have 2 sound cards. or 1 sound card and onboard audio. have to find a way to setup which goes to witch sound, and hook up the speakers to the onboard and your headphones to your sound card, or whichever way.

i used to have game coming out my surround sound, then setup the headset so people talking (external program, not in game voice chat) came out only my headset.

dunno if its possible with only 1 because the sound card would have to process 2 things tottally seperate and use the output plugs as differnet things in the back.

I've got an on onboard sound card. But my case has mic+spk plugs on the front, which I am not using, and a pair of them at the back, the ones that I use. And in the windows sound options menu, I have an option, "use front mic panel". Maybe I could use that for something, but I have absolutely no idea...

nope, the front audio is just an extension of the audio in the back, seeing how it is connected on the motherbard. If you truly wanted to get your idea off the ground, its not that expensive, a decent PCI sound card can cost between 30 - 50.
My suggestion Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum Edition....

Hmm.. I'm kinda trying to stay away from all the computer stuff, they're too time consuming, and I feel like it's taking over my life. Buying a new sound card would just take me back to where I was 2 years ago, no life, just computers. I wish I could've done it with what I had, but I can't so...

Thanks a lot for the help anyways.
