Default Cool net and Sega team up to bring Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast classics to Xbox

http://xbox.ign.com/articles/356/356109p1.html

From IGN:
"The companies don't know what games they'll be or how much they'll cost, but Sega of Japan and cool net entertainment, a Japanese software publishing company, are planning to release Xbox versions of classic Saturn, Dreamcast and Genesis games as early as this summer. Sega's library of titles represent some of the greatest games in history, so the partnership plans to only bring out the games that are popular and can still generate interest among gamers when optimized for the Xbox."

Sounds pretty neat. If I ever get an X-Box it'll be even neater.

Dammit I want an Xbox

[edit] in case you wondered why the unhappy smiley is there, it's because I don't have the money...

Maybe you could get back all the money you spent on drugs and get yourself an Xbox!

Wow. This is some sweet news. Umm... is cool net an internet company, or do they just publish? Because it would be cool if you could download the Genesis games off the net, and onto the Xbox for little money.

well, I wouldn't bet on it. Publishers and developers are in this thing for the money, and re-releasing old Sega games to the XBox ala "Super Smash Packs" is a very easy way to do this. I'm sure they want to make as much money as possible from them.

From what I have read the games will be remakes like the RE games on Gamecube and not ports.

SEGA has revealed a few more details regarding its future plans for Xbox software development. It’s now apparent that a range of Dreamcast, Saturn, and MegaDrive games will be making their way across to the console starting this summer. Cool Network Entertainment will be aiding SEGA with the translations, which will benefit from enhancements thanks to the superior hardware specifications. SEGA will unveil which of its games are getting the treatment later in the spring, but for now we can only dream!

Well, it would be kind of hard to update the graphics of Genesis games without completely redoing the game. I see games like Shining Force (droooool) being straight ports if they do it.

But Panzer Dragoon with great graphics? Now thats something I could sink my teeth into.

Here's some even more news about the subject:

http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories...858639,00.html

"GameSpot has learned more details concerning the remakes of classic Sega titles for the Xbox. Currently, four titles are in development, and one of them is already 50 percent complete and running on the Xbox hardware. The four titles are expected to be announced sometime in May in Japan. The development is being handled by both Sega and Cool Net Entertainment, who is also working on Rune Brid for the Xbox and Buzz Rod for the PlayStation 2."
