What is Halo?
Nov. 16th is a little ways off which really sucks. I hoped for a Nov. 2nd release. Oh well. Time to countdown the days

Are Half Life fans really so insecure that they need to dis Halo 2 when mentioning their game? Kind of sad.
The bad part is this... anyone with an Xbox will be able to play Halo 2 to its fullest. What kind of machine do you think you'll need to play Haf-Life at a high level? Methinks it will be a pretty high end one...

Re: Official Half-Life 2 gold, Release date announced.
Actually, a computer with a directx7 video card can run Half Life 2. Lets see Doom3 try that.
And I wasnt trying to deliberately diss Halo/2. I was just poking harmless fun.
*notices my computer can run HL2 at nearly max settings and does an irish jig*

Are halo 2 fans really so insecure that they need to rush out to defend any little poke or jab at thier almightly god of a hyped up game? REALLY sad.
but me thinks you not knowing your computers very well.
What do you consider 'high level' ? everything up to the highest? well you prolly need a computer thats not invented yet. PC gaming is built for a long hall. which means getting a better machine later on and you can have the game look even better then it can now. to run the game the way its meant to right now, An average PC with a decent card can do it just fine.
and to play halo 2 to its fullest, users would need a keyboard and mouse.
I really pitty the day when console users go online vs PC users in an FPS game, thats going to be one hella slaughter.

Yeah. I mean, I was playing the OLD HL2 beta on my GeForce 4 MX 420 with a perfectly decent framerate. And that card's a piece of crap (yay for X800). They've had months and months to optimize it since then.

thats if Halo 2 comes out on PC at all, im not so sure how well it would really sell on PC after the dissapointment in the PC world over the first Halo. If it did tho it would prolly be next year.
And for thoes getting HL2, are you getting the normal or Collecters edition? i dont like paying extra for the collecters, but i want that DVD instead of a bunch of CD's...

From what I've been reading and from talking to my friend who signed up the other day, steam sucks. My friend can't even login half the times. After doing some searching to find a fix for his problem, turns out this is not an uncommon thing at all and that there are tons of other bugs
As far as buying collectors or regular, I too would rather have the dvd than the cds....guess its going to come down to how much money I have at the time

Re: Official Half-Life 2 gold, Release date announced.
I've been using Steam since December and have had no problems with it so I don't mind Steam being used to play HL2 as I can just backup the GCF files for HL2 onto a dvd or 2.

Re: Official Half-Life 2 gold, Release date announced.
I'm either getting steam's silver pack or the collector's edition... I don't want a bazillion CDs, and I want that Half-Life: Source...
However I don't want a T-shirt or booklet thing, and steam's silver doesn't come with those and costs 20 bucks less than the collector's pack... But you don't get an actual DVD of the game... *strokes beard*
I've already pre-loaded HL2 from steam though, I'll probably go with steam...

I had pre-ordered the regular retail version just a day or two before they announced the steam packages. I was pretty pissed, but on the other hand I'll have a cool awsome box and a bunch of awsome discs, and I still wont even have to actually put the discs in and take all that time installing the game because ive allready pre-loaded everything so all I'll have to do is punch in the CD-Key and boom, Im playing it baby.
