Fairenhype 9/11
I just saw this rebuttal documentary to Moore's film of the same name, and I have to say that it was a very good counterpoint.
The parts of the film that surprised me the most weren't the parets that dismantled the fallacies and deceits in Moore's movies, as I already knew most of them, but instead were the sections regarding the UN Oil for Food program and information on the Patriot Act.
The most damning evidence about the Oil for Food program comes from a very good and bipartisan source: Dick Morris, President Clinton's right hand man. The amount of money that exchanged hands is staggering. France was given two oil fields to drill on after they supported the dissollution of the UN sanctions on Iraq. In Russia every major political party, including Putin's party, were given money by Saddam's Iraq. All told 68 Billion dollars exchanged hands and 10 Billion of that was handed out in bribes.
Also, the part on the Patriot Act and how it prevented the bombing of the Brooklyn Bridge was enlightening to say the least. I won't ruin it for you as the movie does a better job of explaining it than I ever could.
I know a lot of people here are going to immediately dismiss this film, but I have to say that if you saw Moore's film, see this one, and then make your own decisions.

Re: Fairenhype 9/11
Just a question, an honest question for anyone.
Why is it when Moore does something he isnt dismantling the fallacies and deciets of the President, but anything that counters Moore dismantes his lies? I dont get it.
So then, to keep this chain going, why does Moore not make a movie dismantling the lies int he rebuttle movie?

Re: Fairenhype 9/11
Thanks for the review Strangler, I'll rent it this weekend. Then I'll add my input here and give my 'final verdict'. That snippet you mentioned about the prevention of the destruction of the Brooklyn Bridge particulary interests me.

GM, just so you know it is a very pro Bush film, and you may disagree with some of the policies defended, but it defends them well and *SHOCK* without lying (at least not as far as I've seen anywhere).
And Typhoid, I have explained to you over and over again how you can't "dismantle" someone's "lies" when YOU ARE LYING TO DO IT. One lie cannot disprove another lie. Its common sense.

Calm down, calm down.
What Im getting at is, how do you know Moore is lying, but the makers of Ferenhype arnt?
And Moore didnt lie about everything, then again I havent seen either movie. He might not have lied at all.
Please state some of the major lies from Fairenheight, and the dismantlings from Fairenhype.
Have a good day.

If it defends the policies well and honestly, it should be enjoyable to anyone who isn't unfairly biased against Bush. I hope everyone gives it the same chance that they gave Fareinheit. It'd be unfair to put this movie down without seeing it.

Re: Fairenhype 9/11
Moore doesn't lie so much as he misleads. For example he made it look like the Gore victory celebration in Florida was in reaction to news that he had won, when in fact that was from a campaign rally the night before. He does things like that to bolster the effect.
But I must say after listening to people like Hannity, O'Reilly, and Limbaugh, Moore is a godsend.
