Bush Wasn't Lying...
... about WMD.
Quote:
A British intelligence review released July 14 calls Bush’s 16 words “well founded.”
A separate report by the US Senate Intelligence Committee said July 7 that the US also had similar information from “a number of intelligence reports,” a fact that was classified at the time Bush spoke.
Ironically, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, who later called Bush’s 16 words a “lie”, supplied information that the Central Intelligence Agency took as confirmation that Iraq may indeed have been seeking uranium from Niger .
Both the US and British investigations make clear that some forged Italian documents, exposed as fakes soon after Bush spoke, were not the basis for the British intelligence Bush cited, or the CIA's conclusion that Iraq was trying to get uranium.

Just a question.

Biological Weapons:
Russia has them, United States studies some substances, North Korea and Syria are suspected to have them.
Chemical Weapons:
Russia and the United States have them, India, South Korea and Syria are suspected to have nerve agents. It has been reported that Al Qaeda has tried to make various chemical weapons (no suprise).
Nuclear Weapons:
Russia, United States and North Korea have them, Pakistan, India and Israel all may have nuclear weapons.
Radiological Weapons:
Nearly every country has the materials to make them.
-----------------
I suppose that answers your question.
You can also find more information here that lists countries that are pursuing or capable of acquiring weapons of mass destruction.

That actually doesnt answer my question.
Why is America allowed to have them?
I dont want a list of the kinds and who does have them. Why can America have them. Whats the point of having them? Scare tactics is all it is.
Yes, Lots of countries have them, but aside from Iraq, Iran etc. the U.S.A. is the most likely country to actually use them in a large scale account.
And if they arnt likely to use them, whats the point of even having them? Shelf decorations?

I think it does answer your original question. You asked: "why is America allowed to have WMD but nobody else" I clearly pointed out America is not the only country with weapons of mass destruction. So when you said "but nobody else" you were wrong.

Er... if you're going to answer your own questions then what is the point of asking them?

Iraq doesn't actually count as anyone else you might be to young to remember when Saddam took over kuwait and used his WMD on his own people. When we stomped him the first time after he did that with his WMD he signed a no WMD peace accord and then he fell back on it after kicking UN inspector's out of IRAQ and it was just a matter of time that this was coming.. Americans don't care if France or Italy or any of the people in the UN have WMD but saddam might have sold them to terrorists but since we stopped it before it happened who knows...... And Joeiss I agree Canada is part of N.America and I know that if they were attacked the US would run to defend them with the Canadian troops, I know 44 people from the CAN. INF because they trained with us during HELO ops down at fort hood.. I'd be glad to serve with any of them.. ANd the majority of the ones I met supported the US's decision to invade Iraq so I guess not all Canuks are bad j/k

DING DING DING! Nitram gets the prize! I was waiting for someone to point that out and prove that they actually read the article.
By the way, factcheck.org is a fantastic unbiased site for examining the claims by both political parties. Its run by the Annenberg Foundation (or something) at the University of Pennsylvania.
As for WMD, the reason why other countries are tolerated to have WMD including the US and Saddam was not is quite simple... SADDAM USED THEM... A LOT... INCLUDING GASSING HIS OWN PEOPLE. Having WMD as a deterrent to war is a lot different than using them to start them numerous times.
Also, theres the whole Cold War thing, but I don't feel like explaining it all over again.
