Default Going Online

Let me tell you, if you will, a tale of a teenager and his PS2, and a quest for FFXI.

It all began one day at wal mart, when he bought FFXI, a modem adapter, and a keyboard. He dished out a lot of his hard earned cash for this game and all the accessories, but he thought it was worth it.

He took it all home. He was very excited. He got the game started, and began to download the updates, install it, etc. Then, when it started the final downloading process, an error occured. This error occured every time he tried to start his game, and he never got to play.

But, he stilled had the receit. He recalled from memory that a commrade of his had once purchased a DDR dance mat from the same store, and the back arrow and stopped working. The commrade still had the reciet, so he returned the mat, and the store let him exchange it for a video game of equal value.

Now, the lad with the FFXI game wants to return it. He can claim it doesnt work. Because rightfully, it doesnt.

But, the boy questions whether he should also return the keyboard and network adapter. He could still play other game's online, he thinks, but he doesnt know if it's worth it or not.

The boy uses dial up, so he doesnt know how well any PS2 online games will work.

So he decided to seek help, at the local Game Tavern. He requests other's opinions, and he wants to know what are some good online PS2 games out right now, or coming out in the future, that will work on dial up, and run properly.

If the list is promising, and online gaming sounds worth it, and fun, he may keep the network adapter, and only return the HDD. With the returned HDD, he could afford a console game, and a GBA game.

The boy would also like to know if he should return the keyboard or not. Does the keyboard work with any other PS2 online games? Is it worth it?

+rep for any help, especially if it is quick help, because if I return it, I'll be returning it tomorrow, probably before I watch Harry Potter III: Prisoner of Azkaban.

Heh, Vampyr... it's not the game that isn't working, it's your lousy connection! If you can somehow get the updates downloaded, keep the game.

And at the moment I do not know of any online PS2 games that are even worth owning (aside from FFXI, which, I decided that I wasn't going to quit afterall). If you want console online games, get an Xbox w/ Live.

Heh. I know it's my connection. But if I tell the store that it "randomly stops working" what are they gonna do? sit down and play it till something messes up?

I would like an Xbox w/ live, but, unless I'm mistaken, Live only works with broadband connections.

But I still dont know if I should keep the network adapter or not. :\

keyboard works with most games. However depending on the price it might not be worth it because ANY usb keyboard works the same for PS2. so just using a $10 PC usb keyboard is perfect like i use
