Doom 3 port is rather unsuccesful.

Default Doom 3 port is rather unsuccesful.

PC version (Gefoce 4 ti 4200, AMD Athlon 1800, 512 ram... depicting average PC setup)

you didnt actually expect it to look the same did you? PC is soooo much more powerful then the consoles. expecially in terms of lighting

im not so sure the top one is running on a geforce4 tho. because a GF4 is a directx 8 card. and doesnt have the dynamic lighting effects a directx 9 card has.

but maybe thoes arent the dx9 lighting in that pic.

The PC pic I have does not represent Doom 3 on a high end PC. It shows Doom 3 on a pretty average PC... very affordable.

X-Box doesn't have a problem with lightning... I mean look at the horrific modeling on that monster. Probably EXTREME cut back of textures and polies cause of low memory.

IMO it looks joke... PC ports and consoles just don't go together.

i know its a average afordable model. but you can get some pretty cheap GFX cards that are DX9 compatable. some cheaper then the gf4 that can do the dx9 lighting. like the GF FX 5700 or the radeon 9600

And yes xbox (not x-box) does have a problem with lighting, all the consoles do. even tho the model is not as smooth and the textures are blurry. you'd be AMAZED on how much dynamic lighting adds to it.

Not bashing the X-Box or anything... but I think it's a horrible port.

They even changed the speed of monsters and aiming system for it to be console compatiable.

I personally expected Doom 3 to look worse on X-Box than on a PC but this is just plain bad IMO.

BTW the PC setup that the PC version is running on was avaliable 3 months (or something like that) after the X-Box came out... so it's not really a testement to new hardware, as much as it is to the power of the PC.
